Just then, a woman came swaying toward them, all dolled up in a tight dress, her hips swinging like she was working a runway.
She shot a glance at Stefan first, then let her eyes land on Korbin, her voice dripping with honey. “Well, well, if it isn’t Korbin. Look what the cat dragged in. It’s been ages. I was starting to think you forgot about me.”
Korbin grinned, not holding back. “Zora, you missed me that much? Alright then, tonight’s your lucky night. I’ll show you what I’m working with.”
Zora Higgins giggled and gave his chest a playful tap with her manicured hand. “Oh, stop.”
She turned her attention to Stefan, her gaze roaming. “And who’s this handsome stranger? First time here? What should I call you?”
Korbin jumped in before Stefan could answer. “Just call him Mr. Bryant. He’s a regular at my place.”
They’d worked out the story on the way over. Stefan was playing the part of a rich guy who frequented Korbin’s Juno Club.
It made sense-regulars were good spenders, so it wasn’t weird that he knew Korbin.
Stefan met Zora’s eyes, then glanced at her ample curves, playing up a slightly shy act. But he managed a polite smile. “I was at Korbin’s place when I got a call from my girlfriend. She said her dad was here. So I asked Korbin to bring me by and see what was going on.”
Zora’s eyebrows arched with interest. “Looking for someone, Mr. Bryant? What’s the name?”
“Bob Frost, my girlfriend’s dad.” Stefan flashed an innocent, harmless smile.
Right on cue, Damian walked over, a few bulky bodyguards trailing behind him. Damian extended a hand to Korbin, his face all smiles. “Korbin. Good to see you, man.”
Korbin shook his hand firmly, grinning back. “Damian, you’re looking sharp. The place is packed. Must be nice.”
Damian chuckled, “You’re too kind.”
Then his tone shifted, just a touch. “So what brings you here tonight? Looking to try your luck?”

Before Korbin could answer, Zora chimed in, “Damian, Korbin’s here with Mr. Bryant. Mr. Bryant’s a regular at Korbin’s club. He’s looking for Bob Frost.”
Damian turned to Stefan, his smile still in place but his eyes appraising. “Bob’s had a rough night here. Lost a good chunk of change. You here to settle up for him?”
Stefan sighed, playing the part of the reluctant helper, “What can I do? He’s my girlfriend’s dad. I heard he took the clothes and shoes I bought her and used them for chips?”
Damian nodded smoothly. “He did. But you know how it is, Mr. Bryant. They’re not worth much now. Secondhand goods.”
Stefan just nodded. “Alright. Let me see him.”
Damian’s eyes flickered, then he smiled again, “Sure thing. Right this way.”
Who is this guy?
But Korbin doesn’t escort just anyone. He’s gotta have some connections.
Damian led them through the casino to a craps table. Bob was standing there, clutching a stack of chips, his eyes wild. “Big! Big! Big! I won! I won!”
He raked in his winnings, practically vibrating with excitement.
Stefan’s voice cut through the noise, cold and flat. “You’re Eliza’s dad?”
Bob barely glanced over. “Yeah.”
Then he did a double-take, squinting at Stefan’s unfamiliar face. “Who are you?”
“You’re down five million dollars. Where did you get these chips?” Stefan’s eyes were sharp, barely holding back his anger.
Bob waved him off, annoyed. “None of your business. Don’t mess with my game.”
He turned back to the table, ready to place another bet.
Stefan’s hand connected with Bob’s face, sending him sprawling. Chips were scattered everywhere.
Bob scrambled after them, then glared up at Stefan. “My chips! What the hell? Why’d you hit me?”
