Chapter 165 Tie Everyone Up
Stefan stared at Bob. “If I hadn’t shown up tonight, do you have any idea what would’ve happened to your family? You think Eliza would’ve just been a dealer here? A waitress? No. They would’ve used her. Her looks. Her body. To service their big spenders. And you? Damian would’ve bled you dry. Squeezed every last drop out of you. Then he would’ve pushed you both off a cliff. Family destroyed.”
He paused, then added coldly, “So if you really want to change, you’ve got two choices. One, cut off the hand that gambles. Two, go to prison.”
Bob panicked. “No, no, no. Please. Ava, Eliza, I know I messed up. If I lose my hand, how will I work? I can’t go to prison either.”
Eliza’s voice came out cold and firm. “I agree.” She looked at Bob, and her heart hurt badly.
The moment he signed that contract, he stopped being her father.
She knew this was the only way-the only thing that might wake him up, make him see, and make him change.
Ava couldn’t bear it for the years of marriage. But she turned away and said nothing.
She knew what Stefan was offering was a chance to save Bob-to save what was left of his life.
Stefan had already stepped aside and made a phone call.

At the Myers Mansion, Nicolas was still awake.
As the mayor of River City, he ran the whole political show, and his work never stopped.
Even this late, he was in his study.
Just then, his personal phone buzzed on the desk.
Not many people had this number. And no one called this late unless it was important.
Nicolas picked up his phone and saw the caller ID. Without a moment’s hesitation, he answered immediately, his tone respectful yet filled with gratitude, “Hello, Dr. Bryant. You’re still up?”
“Yes, Mr. Myers. Sorry for calling so late,” Stefan said.

Nicolas smiled, “Don’t apologize. My daughter’s alive because of you. Those prescriptions you gave her are working. She’s getting better every day. Yesterday, she begged me to invite you over. Wants to thank you in person.”
“I’m glad to hear Rebecca’s recovering. Well, I’m calling about something else.”
Nicolas straightened up. “Go ahead.”
He knew that at this late hour, whatever Stefan was calling about must be serious.
Stefan said, “Mr. Myers, I just broke an illegal underground casino here in River City. Huge amounts of money are changing hands every day. The owner preys on ordinary people. Sets them up. God knows how many families he’s destroyed. That’ll take some digging to figure
out.
“And here’s the thing-the owner has serious connections. His security guards carry guns. Out in the open.”
“What?” Nicolas shot up from his chair. His face went pale. “You’re serious? Where is this place?”
An illegal casino. Massive amounts of money. Illegal firearms.
This isn’t just breaking the law. It is stomping all over it.
Nicolas wouldn’t stand for it.
Stefan said, “Dead serious. I trust you to handle this right, so I called you specifically to explain. I’m giving you the address.”
Nicolas stated, “Dr. Bryant, thank you for trusting me with this. And rest assured. As long as I’m the mayor of River City, this will be dealt with. Strictly. No exceptions. I don’t care who’s involved. There will be no special treatment.”
He got the address, then ended the call.
Then he picked up his landline.
A burly man in a City Guard uniform showed up minutes later.
It was Toby Powell, the head of the City Guard. “Mr. Myers? You wanted to see me?”
Nicolas’ eyes hardened. “Get the Public Safety Department Chief on the line. Deploy every available officer. Take the City Guard units, too. Move on to this underground casino. Shut it down. Arrest everyone involved.”
