Nina froze and turned to Theodore, her eyes sharp and dismissive. “Oh? What do you want? Kill me?”
Theodore shook his head quickly. “No, no, no. I want to carry out Simon’s last wish.”
He licked his lips, a cruel glint in his eyes. “I know Simon’s gone for good–his body’s probably rotted by now. His biggest dream was to f*ck you. He never got the chance, but I can do it for him, as his brother.”
Theodore spoke in a steady tone, barely holding back a wild rage.
His voice gave everyone chills. “Simon loved you so much–why would I hurt you?”
His thin lips twisted into a grim smile. “You have no idea how much I looked up to Simon. He loved to party, but the Prescott family had tons of work to do. I told him, ‘Go enjoy yourself— I’ll handle the business. So, while Simon was out drinking and fooling around every night, I was up till midnight going through documents.
“I’d give him anything he wanted–even the woman I loved.
“I had a girl I grew up with, someone I really cared about. One day, Simon said he found her attractive.
“That same night, I sent her to Simon’s room.
“Slowly, Simon let his guard down completely. He used to fear I’d compete with him for control of the family, but he stopped worrying. After all, I obeyed his every order.
“What he didn’t know was that I’d secretly taken control of everything.
“I once planned to take back everything he loved, right in front of him–take away his vices: gambling, drinking, women…
“Too bad I never got that chance.”
Theodore spoke calmly, sounding almost regretful at the end.
Nina felt her skin crawl. She stared at him coldly and snapped, “You’re a sick monster. Simon’s awful reputation was all your fault. You even plotted against your own brother–you’re cold and cruel.”
“You think anyone will believe you?” Theodore’s cold gaze locked onto Nina. “You’re the

woman Simon chased and never won–the one he loved most. Keeping you with the Prescott family… Simon can rest easy in the afterlife.”
“So
you never cared about Simon’s life or death. You didn’t come to River City to look for him. What are you really after?” Nina asked in a low, stern voice.
“You’ll understand once you’re mine.”
“Dream on. If you touch me, the Reed family will never let you get away with it.”
“Once you’re mine, I’ll ask for your hand as head of the Prescott family. Do you family would say no?”
think your
“You!” Nina’s face paled a little.
She stared at Theodore in shock, putting the pieces together. “Your plan is to use me to team up with the Reed family?”
“Smart. You really are worthy of being mine,” Theodore laughed.
Nina couldn’t believe it.
Did Theodore take full control of the Prescott family this quickly? If that’s true–forcing himself on me, then proposing as head of the family… the Reed family would almost certainly agree, turning a scandal into a perfect match.
After all, Theodore wasn’t like Simon. He had a good name in Mound City. To rich, powerful families, being ruthless was a good thing, not a bad one.
Theodore continued, “The Prescott family was never my final goal. With the Reed family’s support and alliance, I’m confident I’ll take half of Mound City. And you? You’ll be living the high life.”
