"Yes, you will apologize to Mr. Lewis and his friends immediately! Aaron is generous enough to give you a chance. Don't be ungrateful!" Barry snapped back to his senses, his voice icy. "And how dare you cause trouble at Drizzlewood Retreat? Do you have any idea who stands behind this place?"
"I don't need such a chance! You're the ones who should apologize!" Nina looked down at Aaron and the others, her tone haughty and condescending.
"You bitch, acting all high and mighty in front of me? So what if you're pretty? Once Nick and I are done with you, we'll put you up for auction and let every man have a turn!"
Aaron's voice was venomous.
"Such foul words. Slap him," Nina said coldly.
The moment she spoke, Janet moved. Two sharp slaps landed on Aaron's face.
Aaron went flying, coughing up blood. His face swelled up fast, bright red and puffy like a swollen balloon—unrecognizably haggard and unkempt.
Barry had just hung up the phone. Seeing Aaron struck, he paled with rage. "You're dead! I just called the secretary of Drizzlewood Retreat's owner. Not only did you cause trouble here, but you also injured Mr. Lewis. Your doom is sealed!"
At the same time, Aaron, still sprawled on the floor, pulled out his phone and screamed into it, voice ragged with panic. "Dad, come save me! I'm at Drizzlewood Retreat—I've been attacked! They have a martial artist with them, hurry!"
Less than ten minutes after Aaron's call, a furious middle-aged man stormed in—Logan Lewis, Aaron's father.
He had been handling business nearby and rushed over as soon as he heard.
"Dad! You have to stand up for me today!" Aaron called out, his voice thick with resentment.
"Who? Who did this?" Logan's eyes swept the room, his anger palpable the moment he saw his son's swollen face.
The Lewis line had been narrow for generations—only one son each. Aaron, as the latest in this solitary succession, was accustomed to getting his way, accustomed to his family's unwavering protection and privilege.
"Dad, it's them! They took my reserved private room, insulted us, and then attacked!" Aaron pointed at Stefan and the others, twisting the truth without hesitation. "That guy is the ex-con, the trash living off the Stewart family's heiress, and these women are with him!"
