The Stewart Mansion, West Compound Villa.
Stefan followed the Stewart family into the grand, impressive villa.
Everyone's thoughts were a mixed bag on the way.
Micah intended to test Stefan's abilities. If Stefan could awaken Sara, he would honor the agreement and let her marry him, while also seeing his beloved granddaughter recover—a win-win situation. If Stefan failed, Micah could use it as an excuse to back out of the deal. After all, someone with no real skills who had just been released from prison would be a laughingstock as a Stewart family son-in-law.
Hewitt and his branch of the family were mostly there to see Stefan embarrass himself.
Especially Hank, who had already made up his mind—if Stefan failed to wake Sara, he would immediately call the Stewart family guards to rough Stefan up, throw him out, and vent his own frustration.
As for Zoey...
She glanced sideways at Stefan. While part of her wanted to see him fail, another part secretly hoped he could actually wake Sara.
She was eager to see the look on her cousin's face if she had to marry an ex-con like Stefan.
In the past, Sara had always outshone her in every way—looks, talent, everything—leaving Zoey seething with jealousy.
If Sara ended up married to Stefan, it would give Zoey something to mock and ridicule for years to come.
Frazier's branch remained silent throughout, never uttering a word.
Adjusting his glasses, Hank's gaze fell on Stefan, a subtle, unreadable glint flashing deep in his eyes.
As for Chuck, his face was tense and grim. Of course, he wanted his daughter to wake up, but the thought of her having to marry Stefan afterward made his expression look like he'd swallowed something foul.
Audrey, on the other hand, had a completely different first impression of Stefan.
He was handsome and carried an air of confident masculinity. From start to finish, he remained composed and steady, unruffled by praise or criticism—a demeanor and temperament rarely seen in young people.
As for whether Stefan had power or wealth...
Audrey didn't even consider it. Did the Stewart family lack money?
So, when it came to choosing a son-in-law, she cared more about character.
Stefan had willingly gone to prison for three years in place of his ex-girlfriend—that alone spoke of loyalty, integrity, and someone who valued relationships deeply. Even though she didn't know why they'd broken up, her intuition told her Stefan was a good man.
"Mr. Bryant, my daughter is on the second floor. I'll take you up."
Audrey spoke up, leading Stefan to the second floor.
Outside one of the rooms stood several maids and servants from the West Compound Villa, including the head maid, Romise.
As they approached, an elderly man with an air of transcendent grace walked out, looking weary and troubled.
Chuck immediately stepped forward and asked urgently, "Mr. Hale, how did the treatment go? My daughter... is she awake?"
Valka let out a quiet sigh, seeming hesitant before finally speaking in a strained voice, "To be honest, Ms. Stewart's condition is unlike anything I've ever seen. She has no remaining injuries, her pulse and breathing are stable, and there's no significant trauma to her brain. As for why she hasn't woken up... I'm truly at a loss. Still, I've done my best with acupuncture. Whether she wakes or not is now up to fate."
At these words, the faces of Chuck and Audrey instantly changed.
Even Micah couldn't help but frown, a shadow of disappointment falling over his aged face.
He had heard of Valka's reputation as a master physician. If even a renowned expert like him couldn't wake Sara...
"Even Mr. Hale couldn't wake Sara, yet Stefan has the nerve to show up and try? He's just asking to be humiliated!"
Zoey's mocking, cold laughter rang out.
"Zoey, Stefan is just going to try and stall. He'll probably say he's not feeling well today or some other excuse about not being able to treat her... I can't wait to see his true colors exposed!" Hank added, his tone venomous.
They showed no reaction to Valka's failure to wake Sara. Instead, they were only interested in seeing Stefan publicly embarrass himself.
Though unintentional on their part, Valka heard every word. So the Stewarts had brought in someone else to treat Sara?
Who could it be?
Just as he wondered, Audrey, her eyes reddening, walked over to Stefan. In her anxiety, she grasped his arm and pleaded, "Mr. Bryant, please examine my daughter's condition. If there's any way to wake her, you must save her..."
"Don't worry, ma'am. I'll do everything I can. If it's possible to wake her, I will."
Stefan spoke softly, reassuring her.
