The Ex-Wife's Triumph novel Chapter 251

In the living room, Bacchus Sherwood was still sitting there in a daze, trying to process what had just happened.

So what if a few blind dates had fallen through?

It wasn't like he was going to quit. Weren't there more scheduled for tomorrow? How did he manage to piss her off enough to storm out?

He kept turning the elder Mrs. Sherwood's words over in his head: "When you're out in the world, the identity you have is the one you give yourself." He thought about it from every angle, and only one conclusion popped into his mind.

Wasn't this just a disguised form of marriage fraud?

A little while later, Kingsley Sherwood finally came downstairs.

Seeing Bacchus sitting on the couch, he asked directly, "Have you seen grandmother?"

Bacchus frowned, his tone full of surprise. "Weren't you in the hospital? Why are you back?"

"I recovered, so naturally, I came back." Kingsley had his jacket in hand, clearly about to head out.

Bacchus suddenly remembered that when he saw him yesterday, the corners of his mouth and his cheek were still bruised, but now his skin was perfectly unblemished.

He couldn't help but press, "Has medical technology gotten this advanced? Your injuries healed overnight?"

As he spoke, he stepped forward hesitantly, leaning in to get a closer look.

Feeling uncomfortable under the scrutiny, Kingsley turned his head slightly and explained mildly, "You're overthinking it. The ointment just worked well."

Before he even finished speaking, he was already walking toward the door.

"What are you doing? Running away from home like grandmother?" Bacchus called out at his back.

"She ran away from home?"

Hearing this, Kingsley couldn't help but laugh out loud. She had clearly gone to see her great-grandson, yet she made up such a clumsy excuse.

Bacchus hummed in agreement, guessing, "I probably messed up my blind dates and made her mad."

"You're thinking too much, Secretary Sherwood."

Kingsley turned back and patted his shoulder, revealing the truth.

"The older woman went to see her great-grandson. She just didn't want me to know."

Kingsley stood where he was, watching his brother's silhouette disappear out the door before looking away.

Just then, the butler walked in and asked softly, "Mr. Kingsley, will you be dining at home?"

Kingsley gave a low sound of agreement.

When Lucy Lynwood led Seven into the private dining room, the elder Mrs. Sherwood and Wilma were already waiting.

The moment Seven saw the two women, he politely greeted them. "Hello, Great-grandmother."

That sweet, soft voice worked like magic, instantly melting the elder Mrs. Sherwood's heart.

Her wrinkled hands trembled slightly, unable to hide her emotion.

Seven widened his bright, innocent eyes and looked up at Lucy, lowering his voice into a whisper. "Mom, I think they're going to cry?"

Lucy gently ruffled his hair and explained softly, "They're just overjoyed to see you."

With that, she turned to the two older women and smiled. "Grandma, Wilma."
