The Extraordinary Bride Of The Wyndham Family (Isla and Gabriel) novel Chapter 224

Later, after the meeting ended, the chief accountant was taken away for treatment.

His face was badly bruised. Although, he had been treated. Even in his weak state, he was not left alone. Two guards stayed with him every second, watching his every move, making sure he did not try anything foolish.

There was no escape for him.

Back in Gabriel’s office, the atmosphere was calm again, but the tension had not fully left.

Gabriel sat behind his desk, his jacket already removed, his sleeves rolled up. His expression was calm now, but his eyes were cold and sharp. He held the bald man’s phone in his hand, scrolling through its contents slowly and carefully.

He was not shocked by what he saw. Not even a little.

After the phone had crashed on the marble floor earlier, Stone had acted fast. He had ordered the screen to be replaced immediately and had the phone unlocked by his technical team. Nothing was hidden anymore.

Every message was right there. Every secret contact was there.

Gabriel leaned back slightly in his chair and let out a slow breath. Now, everything made sense.

The threat messages he received were never the real problem. They were only a distraction. A cheap and desperate trick to scare him, to make him focus on protecting his family instead of digging deeper into the company’s accounts.

And it almost worked.

Gabriel scoffed softly.

“What a cheap trick,” he muttered under his breath.

Stone stood across from him with a straight posture. His hands were joined together behind his back. He watched Gabriel closely, waiting for his next instruction.

“Once he gets discharged,” Gabriel said calmly, without looking up, “make sure he is interrogated properly.”

Stone nodded immediately.

“Who knows,” Gabriel continued, his voice calm, “he might not be working alone. We cannot risk that. Anyone who touches my company usually has help.”

“Yes, sir,” Stone replied. “I will handle it personally.”

Gabriel finally raised his eyes and looked at Stone.

“And about my wife’s office,” he added, his tone changing slightly. “I hope you did everything I asked for.”Stone did not hesitate.

“Yes, Mr Wyndham. Everything has been taken care of.

Extra security has been placed. Access has been restricted. No one gets close without clearance. You don’t have to worry.”

That was when Gabriel truly relaxed

For the first time since the message appeared on his tablet, his shoulders eased.

Now, his family was safe.

That was all that mattered.

A faint smile touched his lips as he thought of them. He imagined Isla sitting with the babies, tired but smiling. He imagined the soft sounds of the nursery, the calm that waited for him at home.

“Sir,” Stone said gently, snapping him out of his thoughts.

Can we attend to your hand?”

Gabriel looked down.

Only then did he notice the bruises forming across his knuckles. The skin was already turning dark, swollen from the punches he had thrown.

He raised his hand slightly and studied it for a moment.

Then he smiled and shook his head.”No,” he said simply. “I will take care of it myself.”

Stone looked at him, then nodded in understanding.

“And thank you,” Gabriel added. “You can go now.”

Stone gave a small nod. Before turning to leave, he looked at Gabriel one more time. There was respect in his eyes.

And something else too.

Pride.

Then he turned and walked out, closing the door softly behind him.

The office fell silent again.

And finally, after everything that happened. Gabriel allowed himself to breathe.

Later that night, as soon as Gabriel got home, he asked Thomas to stop the car right at the gate of his mansion.

Thomas did not question him. The car came to a slow stop, and before anyone could react, Gabriel opened the door and stepped out on his own.

The bodyguards were instantly confused.

Gabriel had never stepped out at the gate before. Never.

He always drove straight in.

They reacted immediately, flanking him from both sides, their eyes at alert.”I am home now,” Gabriel said calmly. “You should rest. just want to check on something.”

For the first time since they started working for him, they were scared

Gabriel turned away and slid back into the car, closing the door himself.

“Drive,” he told Thomas.

The car rolled smoothly into the long driveway of the estate. The bodyguards quickly entered the second car and followed behind.

As the car moved, Gabriel’s eyes stayed alert.

He studied both sides of the driveway carefully. Some security lights were turned off. Others flickered weakly.

He took note of everything.

Then he saw the men dressed in black, patrolling with guns in their hands. When the car moved, they turned sharply toward it, instantly alert.

That impressed him.

At least someone was doing their job.

Finally, the car came to a stop in front of the mansion.

Once again, Gabriel did not wait for anyone. He opened the door and stepped out by himself, walking straight into the mansion without looking back. The security men around were stunned.

He did not acknowledge their greetings, and he did not slow down either. No one had ever seen him behave this way before.

Thomas stepped out of the car and addressed them.

“I advise you to return to your duties,” he said firmly. “That is the only way you can impress him. He doesn’t need greetings right now.”

The men immediately moved, returning to their positions.

“Another thing,” Thomas added, his voice louder now. “Be more alert from now on. You never know when a threat will come.”

They exchanged confused looks.

Seeing that they still did not understand, Thomas stepped closer.

“The men at the gate,” he said quietly and clearly. “Do not rely on them. The boss just realized they are not doing their job properly. So be careful.”

Realization finally dawned on their faces.

Two of them immediately climbed into the golf cart and drove toward the gate. The rest tightened their patrol routes.

Only then did Thomas return to the car and drive into the garage.
