Desmond and the others were different: They had transferred directly from the First Military, so even if the farm disappeared, they still had somewhere to go back to.
But the others weren’t the same, especially the people exiled by the Kingdom to Planet A001.
Their old lives had been miserable. Elizabeth had pulled them out of that darkness and given them a peaceful and stable life:
If the farm were destroyed, they would lose everything.
Elizabeth stayed silent for a moment.
”
“I know,” she finally said. “But I have my reasons for going. I need to see those mutant plants and motant beasts on those unknown planets with my own eyes. Only then will I know what can be used and how to use it. Sitting at home waiting for reports isn’t my style.”
Tiffany suddenly smiled at her.
“I know,” she said softly. “That’s why we’re not really trying to stop you. We just want to make the safety preparations better.”
Over the next few days, the entire farm entered a tense but organized state.
Desmond selected six people from the farm security team. All of them were retired soldiers with rich combat experience and excellent aim.
He personally led the team. Every morning before sunrise, he brought them to the training grounds to drill different emergency situations. Then he wrote down every possible danger he could think of and sent the notes to Elizabeth, making her memorize
them.
“What if you encounter a giant beast? Spread out. Find cover. Aim for weak points!”
“What if you encounter a herd? Climb trees! Get to high ground! Don’t fight head-on!”
“What if you encounter swamps, quicksand, or cliffs? Go around them! Don’t act tough!”
Elizabeth found the survival guide strangely amusing.
It felt like Desmond was teaching a beginner.
Tyson was also busy. He stayed at the spaceport for an entire week.
He took apart the medium-sized exploration ship, rebuilt it, then took it apart again. He checked the engine three times and inspected the energy system five times. He even tightened every screw on the ship’s walls himself.
Several veteran mech engineers were forced to work overtime with him. Even though they complained nonstop, each of them worked more seriously than anyone else.
“We’ve never seen you this hardworking before!”

Clara spun around and saw Nathaniel trip over an exposed tree root before crashing hard onto the ground.
He struggled to get backup, but it looked like he had twisted his leg.
Behind him, the dark swarm of Crackshell Crabs was getting closer.
“Nathaniel!” Without thinking, Clara turned around and rushed back toward him.
“Leave him!” Bukowski roared through the communicator. “Clara, get back here!”
But Clara ignored him.
She had already reached Nathaniel. She grabbed his arm and pulled upward with all her strength.
Nathaniel used her support to stand. The two of them stumbled forward together, trying desperately to pin.
But it was already too late.
The swarm of Crackshell Crabs was less than 150 feet behind them now.
Their countless shells glowed dark red in the dim jungle. Their giant claws snapped open and shut like endless rows of sharpening scissors.
Clara dragged Nathaniel forward as hard as she could, but the two of them simply couldn’t speed up.
The sounds behind them grew louder and louder. The crashing of shells sounded like an incoming tidal wave.
Then suddenly, Clara felt a tight grip on her arm.
Nathaniel’s hand had locked around her wrist.
Clara froze for a second before she could react. A huge force suddenly yanked backward on her arm.
Using her as leverage, Nathaniel threw his whole body backward like a falling stone.
He was dragging her down with him.
Clara’s mind went blank.
Instinctively, she tried to steady herself. But after three days of escaping, her body was exhausted, and her mech was nearly out of
energy.
Nathaniel’s pull dragged her backward helplessly.
“Nathaniel! You…” Her voice was full of disbelief.
Nathaniel never looked at her.
His face stayed pointed toward the teammates running farther ahead. His eyes were wide open, filled with desperate fear and the
