Chapter 324 Daze
Curtis looked at the two of them and stayed quiet.
That night, Ava went back with Ryan and spent the night at their place in Crescent Bay.
The next morning, Ryan brought her straight to the set.

Since everyone had already worked together the day before, things were much more relaxed now, and the filming moved even faster.
For several scenes, they experimented with a few different versions to get the strongest result, and the more Isla watched Ava, the more delighted she became.
She was young, quick to understand, and above all, naturally gifted. Isla only needed to explain something once.
Most of the time, she did not even have to demonstrate it herself. Ava would immediately grasp the key point and give exactly the effect they were aiming for.
A little after six in the evening, the shoot was finally finished. What remained after that was all post-production work for the editing team.
Isla had already reserved a private room in advance, so everyone headed together to a high- end club for dinner. It was more or less their version of a wrap-up celebration.
Amid the soft clinking of glasses, Ava lifted her own drink.
She had fruit wine in front of her, sweet and lightly tart, with only a low alcohol content.
Ryan had specially arranged it for her.
“Isla, thank you for all your guidance,” Ava said, raising her glass. “Let me toast you.”
Isla lifted her red wine and touched glasses with her. After taking a sip, she looked at Ava and said, “From now on, don’t call me Ms. Spencer. It sounds far too formal.”
Ava blinked, a little confused. “Then what should I call you?”
Smiling, Isla flicked a glance at Ryan. “Didn’t Ryan explain how we’re related?”
Ava shook her head.
That obedient, slightly blank look on her face amused Iska so much she laughed outright.

Reaching over, she lightly pinched Ava’s cheek. “Call me Isla, alright?”
“My mother and his mother are sisters. I just took my mother’s last name.”
Ava immediately corrected herself. “Isla.”

That only made Isla smile more. She rubbed Ava’s cheek again and said warmly, “If Ryan or Ethan ever upsets you, tell Aunt Elena and me. We’ll back you up.
“Ethan’s more stable, so he probably won’t make you angry. Ryan, though? Hard to say. His mouth tends to run ahead of his brain. But don’t worry, Ava-Ryan has absolutely no status at home. He’d never dare bully you.”
That hit a little too directly.
Ryan’s expression darkened at once.
As much as he hated it, that part was true. His position in the family really was at rock bottom.
Dropping his voice, he muttered, “Isla, at least let me keep a shred of dignity.”
Isla laughed brightly, raised her glass again, and took another sip. “What dignity? Want me to list all the embarrassing things you’ve done from childhood up till now?”
Ava pressed her lips together and turned away, trying not to laugh too obviously. Watching Ryan get roasted by Isla again made her smile wide.
The group did not leave until around ten that night, and only then did everyone head off separately.
Ava was preparing to return to school.
Since Ryan had been drinking, he did not drive himself and switched the vehicle to automatic
mode instead.
The two of them sat in the back. In that enclosed space, the smell of alcohol spread quickly, so Ava turned on the air circulation system and flushed the scent out.
Ryan sat there quietly without saying a word, his gaze slightly unfocused.
One look was enough to tell Ava he had definitely drunk too much tonight. Fortunately, he was the quiet type when drunk. Even after overdrinking, he did not become noisy or troublesome.
At the moment, he was sitting there silently, all his usual sharpness and restless energy gone. There was even a dazed softness to him. He looked unexpectedly obedient, and the contrast

was honestly a little cute.
Ava lifted the back of her hand and touched his forehead.
He did not seem too warm.
During the whole ride, Ava stayed quiet, and Ryan kept his eyes shut, sleeping.
When the car finally stopped at the school gates, Ava stood and nudged his arm.

Only after he opened his eyes did she say, “We’re at school. Wake up. Don’t fall asleep again on the way back.”
“Ava!” Ryan suddenly called.
“Yeah?”
“You’ve had a hard two days. Thank you for staying with me. And thank you for everything you’ve done for me. No matter what anyone else says about you, in my eyes, you’re incredible.”
Ava could not tell whether he had sobered up or was still completely out of it.
She stared into his eyes for a moment, then waved a hand in front of his face and said uncertainly, “Ryan, did you even hear what I just said?”
Ryan caught her wrist and pressed his cheek into her palm.
His skin felt warmer than usual.
“Ryan,” Ava repeated, “I’m already at school.”
Ryan could smell the faint sweetness of fruit wine on her, mixed with that soft scent that belonged only to her.

His chin brushed gently over the top of her head, and one arm locked firmly around her waist.
In that instant, every nerve in Ava’s body went taut.
She knew it clearly.
Something had just crossed the line.
