The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 384

Lilly froze for a second, touching the hair clip in her hair. It was a gift from her aunt.

Penny gave her a mocking smile. “You just wear a Chanel hair clip like it’s nothing, but do you know how long it would take Jace to afford something like that? Are you two really a good match?”

Lilly put her hands on her hips. “Whether we’re a good match or not is none of your business. But you and Jace definitely aren’t.”

Penny’s face twisted in annoyance. “You—”

Jace interrupted, turning to Penny. “I told you, I don’t want to see you again. Don’t make me repeat myself.”

Penny’s feelings for Jace were complicated. She wanted him, but also feared him. Right now, his cold stare made her shiver.

“Fine, Jace. You and Lilly are never going to end well. I’ll be watching,” she snapped, then stormed off with her friends.

Lilly let out a sigh of relief. “Finally. Jace, seriously, don’t let her fool you. Don’t ever date her. She said some really nasty things about you.”

Jace glanced at Lilly. “What did she say?”

Lilly hesitated, not wanting to hurt his pride. “She was just talking about your family stuff.”

Jace got it right away. His background wasn’t exactly a secret, and he’d never cared much about what others said.

He looked into Lilly’s bright eyes. “So you fought with her because she insulted me?”

Lilly nodded. “Yeah.”

Jace suddenly stepped forward, closing the distance between them. His voice dropped. “Are you into me too?”

Her heart skipped a beat. Then another. She’d never felt like this before. Her heartbeat was out of control and she could feel her cheeks burning.

With Lucas, everything had always been calm and ordinary. But with Jace, she couldn’t hide how flustered she felt.

It was the first time she’d ever felt this way about a guy.

She realized she really did fall for Jace.

Ever since that rainy night when he’d suddenly appeared in front of her, she’d been drawn to him.

Lilly just stood there, stunned. He didn’t like her?

Then why did he ask that?

She watched his cold, distant figure disappear and stomped her foot, frustrated. Why didn’t he like her?

Just then, she heard Sarah’s voice behind her. “Lucas, did you hear that? Lilly actually asked Jace out, but he turned her down. That’s hilarious.”

Lilly spun around and saw two familiar faces: Sarah and Lucas.

Apparently, word about her fight with Penny had already reached Sarah. She’d dragged Lucas over, and now they’d seen everything that happened with Jace.

Lucas was staring at Lilly, his expression dark and cold.

Sarah just looked smug, enjoying the drama.

Lilly didn’t want to deal with either of them. She didn’t even feel embarrassed about being rejected. “Wow, look who it is. The two nosy creeps who love eavesdropping.”
