Wyatt had always knew the special bond between Ella and her father. He loved her more than anything, and those years with him were some of the happiest of Ella’s life. Now that it was confirmed her father had been poisoned by the Irvine family, it was only right for Ella to want to get justice for him. Wyatt nodded, his voice steady. “Ella, I’ll always be on your side.”
...
David hurried through the hospital, heading straight for the VIP room. Jessa was back in the hospital again. She sat propped up in bed, wearing a blue and white striped hospital gown, with Peter and Rachel on either side of her. Even though David wasn’t as close to Jessa as he used to be, she was still someone he cared about, someone he had promised to look after. There was no way he’d just leave her alone. As soon as he got the call, he rushed over.
He pulled up a chair and sat down at her bedside. “Jessa, how are you feeling?”
Jessa squeezed his hand, her grip weak. “David, my heart really hurts.”
Rachel jumped in right away. “Mr. Harmon, Jessa had another attack, this time it was so bad she fainted. The doctors came, but they couldn’t do anything for her. The last Doctor E turned out to be a fraud. Now only the real Doctor E can help. Have you found Doctor E yet, Mr. Harmon?”
David shook his head. “Not yet.”
Peter’s face was etched with worry. “Mr. Harmon, we can’t wait any longer. Jessa’s heart can’t take this much more. We have to do something.”
David nodded. “I know.”
Just then, Aiden walked in, a file tucked under his arm. “Sir.” The way Aiden looked at him made it clear he had something important to say in private.
David stood. “Please excuse me.”
As soon as David left, Rachel turned to Jessa, suspicious. “Jessa, where did Mr. Harmon go?”
Jessa seemed thoughtful, her brow furrowed. “David’s been looking for a heart donor for me. Maybe he’s found a match.”
Rachel’s eyes lit up. “That would be amazing. Who is it? Whoever it is, it’s their honor to help you. But why did Mr. Harmon have to go out to talk about it?”
Aiden nodded, his expression serious. “Yes, sir. Ella’s heart is a perfect match for Jessa.”
David stared at the name, stunned. How could it be Ella? He’d never imagined it would come to this. Jessa needed a transplant and fast. He’d been searching everywhere, but he never expected the answer to be Ella.
Aiden spoke quietly, almost whispering. “Sir, what are you going to do? You’re not really thinking of taking Ella’s heart, are you? But if Jessa doesn’t get a new heart, she won’t make it much longer. What should we do?”
David stood there, caught between two impossible choices. Jessa or Ella. He pressed his lips together, pale and tight. After a long pause, he finally spoke. “Don’t tell anyone about this. Not a word.”
Aiden nodded. “Yes, sir.”
Back in the hospital room, David walked in. Jessa looked up, hope flickering in her eyes. “David, where did you go? Did you find a match for my heart?”
