Ella sat on the sofa for what felt like forever before she finally stood up and made her way to the hospital. She still had a lot to think about when it came to the baby, but right now, she had to meet Jessa.
Half an hour later, Ella walked into Jessa's VIP hospital room and saw her waiting there. Jessa gave her a little smirk. “Ella, you made it. That was quick.”
Ella glanced at Jessa’s pale face. “Your heart’s only getting worse. Next time you faint, it could be the end. So, I figured I’d come see you while I still can.”
Jessa just stared at her, fuming. Honestly, Ella was probably the reason her heart was failing in the first place.
After a moment, Jessa tried to pull herself together. “You don’t need to worry about that, Ella. David’s already found a heart that’s a perfect match for me. He’s going to save my life.”
Ella raised an eyebrow. “Finding one’s not enough. Does the donor even agree to it? If they say no, it’s illegal, you know.”
Jessa had nothing to say to that.
Rachel suddenly chimed in, “That person will definitely agree.”
Ella looked at Rachel’s hopeful smile and asked, “Is it you? If so, congrats. I’m sure you’d love to give up your heart to save Jessa.”
Rachel blinked, speechless. Was Ella out of her mind?
Jessa was fuming. “Aren’t you even a little bit curious who it is, Ella? I can tell you if you want to know.”
Ella glanced between the two of them. She could tell Jessa had a reason for calling her here. They kept going on about this matching heart, so…
Ella’s clear eyes locked on Jessa. “It’s me, isn’t it?”
Jessa and Rachel both smiled, looking almost proud. Ella really was sharp.
Jessa nodded. “Exactly. It’s you, Ella.”
Both of them stared at her, waiting for her reaction.
Ella was honestly shocked. She never imagined her heart would be a match for Jessa. What a twist. Maybe fate really had tied them together from the start.
Ella honestly didn’t know. What would David do?
At that moment, the door creaked open and David walked in, tall and handsome as ever. He looked surprised to see Ella and paused for a second, staring at her.
Ella looked up and met his eyes. For a moment, neither of them said anything.
Jessa broke the silence with her sweetest voice. “David, you’re back. I want an apple. Will you get one for me?”
David finally dragged his gaze away from Ella and walked over to Jessa. “Sure.”
Jessa shot Ella a smug look.
Ella just glanced back at her. “Jessa, with your heart condition, maybe you should cut back on apples.”
Then Ella turned to David, her eyes steady on his face. “Mr. Harmon, can I talk to you outside for a minute? There’s something we need to discuss.”
