The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 459

David was the richest man in Rockford Bay. Around here, his word was law. With him backing Jessa, no one dared say a thing against her.

Honestly, just having David on her side was the Irvine family’s biggest claim to fame.

The crowd’s whispers faded into silence.

Rachel flashed a smug little smile. “Ella, I know you hate me. But are you really going to let Jessa die right in front of you?”

Jessa jumped in fast. “Ella, you know about my heart condition. David offered you a fortune just to treat me, but you refused. You’d rather watch me die. How can you be that heartless?”

Jessa and Rachel were in sync, bringing up the heart thing, trying to make Ella look like the bad gal.

Ella wasn’t surprised. She knew this two wouldn’t come without a plan.

Ella just looked at Jessa. “You really don’t know why I won’t help you?”

Jessa put on her best wounded look. “Ella, what did I ever do? I was just a kid back then. Why do you hate me for what happened with Mom? I’m innocent.”

“Innocent?” Ella’s voice was sharp. “Didn’t you and those kidnappers work together to try to get rid of me?”

The whole room seemed to freeze.

Jessa’s face went blank.

How did she know?

Ella couldn’t help but laugh. She looked at Rachel and Jessa like she saw right through them. “You really thought I wouldn’t figure it out? You two hired those kidnappers. You wanted me dead.”

A stunned gasp rolled through the crowd.

He handed it to David.

David reached out, but Jessa snatched it away. “David, don’t look at that!”

David didn’t even flinch. He just looked at Jessa, his face unreadable. “Why not? Jessa, I’m giving you one last chance. Tell me the truth right now. It’ll go a lot better for you if you’re honest with me, worse if I find out on my own.”

Jessa started to panic. She and Rachel thought they’d covered every angle, that no one would ever know.

Ella should’ve died in that warehouse. If she had, none of this would be happening.

Why didn’t she die?

Ella’s gaze was ice cold as she looked at Jessa. “You’re still trying to hide it? It’s over, Jessa. Lies can’t cover up the truth forever. You were the one behind everything.”
