The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 460

Jessa’s voice trembled. “I...”

She glanced at Rachel, desperate for help.

Rachel jumped in right away. “It wasn’t Jessa. It was me. I was the one who contacted Scar and set up the whole kidnapping.”

Ella stared at Rachel. She’d really stepped up to take all the heat. It was obvious now just how scared she and Jessa were.

Rachel was willing to take the fall just to protect Jessa.

Ella let out a bitter laugh. Was this what a mother’s love was supposed to look like?

Why, though?

Rachel was her biological mother, but she treated Jessa like her real daughter. What had Ella ever done to deserve this?

Even now, her own mother’s betrayal still ached deep inside.

Everyone in the room gaped at Rachel. “Mrs. Irvine, it was really you?”

Lilly’s anger boiled over. “Ella is your own daughter! You actually hired someone to kidnap her, maybe even hurt her. Have you lost your mind?”

Rachel hadn’t expected to get caught. She couldn’t let them know Jessa was part of it too. Jessa’s reputation would be destroyed, and she’d have to answer to David too. So Rachel took the blame on herself.

She looked at Ella, tears shining in her eyes. “Ella, I’m sorry. Mom never meant for any of this to happen.”

Ella just scoffed. “Mother? If I remember right, you and Grandma Jill cut me off a long time ago. If I’d stayed your daughter, a part of the Irvine family, I probably wouldn’t even know what hit me when I died.”

Lilly stepped in. “Ella treated you like family, and you wanted her dead. How could you do that? What kind of person are you?”

The crowd started whispering to each other. “What was Rachel thinking? What kind of mother hires someone to kidnap her own daughter, but spoils someone else’s kid like she’s a princess?”

David met her gaze. “Yes. I knew.”

When he’d dealt with Scar, he’d already investigated everything, even the bank accounts.

So as soon as Wyatt brought up a USB drive with transaction records, he could tell it was a bluff.

Wyatt had been playing a mind game, waving around a fake USB drive just to mess with Jessa and Rachel.

This time, Jessa and Rachel had covered their tracks well, but they ran into pros like Wyatt and David. With just a few words, the two of them had drawn out the truth.

Jessa felt like she was falling apart. She looked at David, her voice barely a whisper. “David, whose side are you on? Why would you work with them against me?”

Ella let out another cold laugh. “Jessa, what do you mean, ‘against you’? Weren’t you supposedly clueless about all this? Wasn’t it Mrs. Irvine acting alone? So why are you freaking out?”

Lilly nodded. “Exactly, Jessa. If you were really innocent, then after you found out Mrs. Irvine hired someone to hurt Ella, your first reaction should have been to call her out. But instead, you went after Mr. Harmon. What does that say? No one’s going to believe you didn’t know.”
