The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 474

David didn’t say a word. He just gently cupped her face in his hands and leaned in, aiming for her lips once more.

She turned her head away. “Don’t.”

He held her chin, turning her face back to his. “Really? After everything, you still say no? Aren’t you curious what it’d be like in the car?”

Ella glanced at him. The city lights outside traced gold across his sharp, handsome features. He was mature, rich, and had that natural charm that made her pulse race. His straightforward, tempting offer almost made it impossible to resist.

But right now, Ella could barely hide her frustration. “Oh, I want to try it in the car, all right.”

David’s gaze darkened, and he leaned in, lips brushing hers.

She stopped him, adding, “But with my boyfriend, Wyatt. Not with you.”

David froze. Trust her to know exactly how to drive him crazy.

“Ella.”

She pressed a hand to his chest, keeping some space between them. “You should go find Jessa. I’m sure she’d love to hook up with you in a car.”

David pressed his lips together. He’d never touched Jessa, no matter how hard she tried. She flirted, made excuses to stay over, tried every trick, but he just wasn’t interested.

The only face he wanted right now was Ella’s, small and stubborn as she glared at him.

“Ella, why do you even like me? Last time, you said we’d met before.”

He wasn’t here just to argue. There were things he needed to hear from her.

Ella’s eyes were clear and steady on his. “Yeah. We have met before.”

“Where?”

“I told you. More than ten years ago, you got hurt and ended up lost in some forest.”

Something flickered in David’s eyes. That was the place he’d first met Jessa… or so he thought.

Who was the real girl from his past?

Ella suddenly pushed him away. “I don’t expect anything from you anymore. We’re already divorced. I just want to move on with my life. Please stop showing up and making things complicated. It’s late. Can you just take me home?”

She was tired, and disappointment hung heavy in her voice. She’d never been the type to use a good deed as leverage. If he couldn’t remember, then that was that.

David’s mind spun. For years, he’d believed the girl in the cave was Jessa. He’d kept her close, given her everything.

But now, maybe it had been Ella all along. He didn’t know what to think anymore.

He needed to find out the truth.

David set his hands on the steering wheel and started the car, heading for Stellaris Apartments.

Ella, exhausted and pregnant, didn’t say another word. She curled up in her seat, drifting off to sleep almost immediately.

When they pulled up in front of Stellaris Apartments, David looked over and saw her, fast asleep, peaceful for the first time all night.
