Jessa moved without thinking, rushing straight at Lilly. “Stop! Turn it off! Don’t play it anymore!” Her hand shot out, and she knocked Lilly’s phone to the floor.
The phone hit the ground with a sharp clatter. Rachel darted forward to grab it, but someone else beat her to it. David picked up Lilly’s phone, his expression unreadable.
“David, don’t look!” Jessa shouted, her voice cracking. “Please, don’t look at that!”
The whole Irvine family was in a panic now. Rachel pleaded with him, “Mr. Harmon, just get rid of that phone. Everything on there is fake. You can’t trust it.”
Grandma Jill jumped in, her voice trembling. “Mr. Harmon, did you forget why we’re here? Today is about Jessa’s heart surgery. We need to start. That’s what matters.”
The room grew tense, everyone on edge. David’s eyes swept over them, cold and sharp. When he spoke, his words sent a chill through the air. “Take them all away. I don’t want to see any more trouble.”
Aiden nodded. “Alright, sir.” At his signal, a group of bodyguards stepped forward, quickly surrounding Jessa, Grandma Jill, and the others. They had no choice but to let themselves be restrained.
With the phone in his hand, David tapped the screen again, restarting the video. The color drained from Jessa’s face, leaving her pale and stricken. She struggled against the guards, her voice desperate. “David, please, don’t! Don’t watch it!”
The video played on. David zoomed in, his heart thudding as he watched Jessa in Ella’s apartment, taking the pendant. That’s his pendant. There was no mistaking it.
Shock hit him like a punch. He never thought Jessa would steal it. But it’s supposed to be something he’d given to her himself. Why would she do that?
“Now do you see, Mr. Harmon?” Fiona said quietly. “Jessa stole the pendant.”
