Ella was in her room, mixing up the antidote when she pulled out her phone and texted Lilly.

"Lilly, are you at Stellaris Apartments yet?"

A reply popped up almost right away.

"I'm on my way, Ella. Almost there."

Ella tapped out another message. "Lilly, it’s okay. You don't need to bring the herbs tonight."

Lilly answered, "Wait, I thought you needed them ASAP?"

Leaning back in her chair, Ella hesitated. She had been desperate earlier, but after what happened with Peter, her priorities had shifted. She didn't feel that urgent anymore.

"Plans changed, Lilly. No hurry tonight."

"Alright, Ella."

By then, Lilly had just arrived outside Stellaris Apartments. She’d dropped everything when Ella first called and hurried over.

She slipped her phone into her bag and was about to head inside when a loud car horn cut through the quiet. A flashy Porsche raced up in front of her.

Lilly turned, just as the window rolled down to reveal two familiar faces.

Lucas and Sarah.

Lucas was behind the wheel. Sarah was in the passenger seat, and both of them looked her way. Lucas gave a crooked smile. "Lilly, what brings you here?"

Before Lilly could answer, Sarah clung to Lucas’s arm and leaned in, her voice dripping with sweetness. "Lilly, Lucas took me out for a drive. We had the best time today."

Sarah noticed the way Lucas stared after Lilly and felt a wave of panic. She’d been with Lucas for a while now, but he was always distracted, his head somewhere else.

"Lucas, Lilly said she has a boyfriend now. Who is it? Is it Jace?"

Lucas’s mood darkened. He’d seen Lilly hanging out with Jace a lot lately. Jace was cool and standoffish, and Lucas wasn’t sure if Lilly had actually gotten through to him.

"Don’t talk about Jace. I don’t want to hear his name."

Sarah smiled, trying to keep things light. "Okay. Let’s just enjoy our night. No more bad vibes."

She slid her hand onto Lucas’s chest, fingers tracing little circles. "So, where are we going tonight? Maybe a hotel?"
