The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 595

Lilly’s heart was racing. She could feel Jace’s eyes on her, and deep down, she knew he was watching everything unfold. She told herself this was it, her last gamble. Would he step in? Did she mean anything to him at all? If not, maybe it was finally time to let go.

“Yes, I have a boyfriend!” she blurted out.

“Oh yeah? Who is he?”

“That’s none of your business. Just know he’s taller than you, better looking, and I love him. He loves me, too.”

The people around her started laughing. “Leo, looks like this girl’s already taken.”

“Guess it’s not your lucky night.”

Leo smirked. “You’re lying, aren’t you? Where’s this boyfriend you keep talking about? If he really cared, why would he let you work in a place like this? He doesn’t care about you at all.”

He picked up a glass and held it out to her. “Come on, have a drink with me. If your boyfriend’s real, he’ll show up, right?”

He tried to press the glass against her lips, but Lilly jerked back, pushing at his arm. “Let go! Don’t touch me, I don’t want to drink!”

Some of the liquor sloshed out, soaking her clothes and making her feel even more exposed. The crowd egged Leo on.

“See? No boyfriend in sight.”

“You might as well just go with Leo. He’ll take good care of you.”

A wave of hopelessness crashed over her. Jace, are you really just going to sit there?

Across the room, Lilian leaned in closer to Jace, a sly smile on her lips. “Jace, this was supposed to be our night, but Leo looks like he’s having more fun than any of us.”

She slid her arm through his. “Don’t you think so?”

He didn’t wait for her to answer. He just took her hand and led her out of the room.

People started whispering all around them.

“What was that? Did Jace just leave with the waitress?”

“What’s going on with them?”

“Miss Whitman, do you know what’s happening?”

Lilian was on her feet, frozen in shock. She stared after Jace and Lilly, her mind racing until the truth finally clicked. That waitress wasn’t just familiar. She knew exactly who she was.

That was Lilly.
