The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 726

Louise went rigid, shock written all over her face. “What? You found a way to save Joanna, but it means you have to give up your own life?”

Moss just nodded. “Yes.”

It was like someone had yanked the floor out from under her. She stepped forward, voice rising. “Moss, are you really going to trade your life for Joanna’s? Is that what you want?”

“Yes. I didn’t want to keep this from you. Your father did a lot for our family, and I owe him. I need to make sure you’re taken care of. This is how I pay that debt back.”

A debt. Always a debt. Was that all she was to him? Just some obligation he had to settle? Did he feel nothing else for her?

Louise stared at Moss, searching his face. “Moss, have you lost your mind? You’re young, you’re at the top of your game in business. How can you just throw your life away for Joanna? I don’t accept this.”

Joanna’s life didn’t matter. Why would Moss sacrifice everything for her?

No.

No, she couldn’t let this happen!

Moss’s voice was steady, final. “I’ve made up my mind. There’s nothing more to discuss.”

“Moss!”

“If you don’t have anything else to say, you should go.” He was already dismissing her.

Louise knew Moss well. Once he decided on something, there was almost no way to change it.

Her eyes flicked to the will on the desk. “Moss, what about your assets? Jessa is your only biological daughter. Are you planning to leave everything to her?”

Jessa was her ace. She needed to see how much that card was worth. If Moss was willing to give everything to Jessa, she could accept that.

He was worried Jessa would treat Joanna badly if she got the money.

Joanna, always Joanna. Everything he did was for her. He never thought of anyone else.

Louise was seething inside, but she forced herself to stay calm. She took a slow breath. “Moss, it’s your decision. I’ll leave you to it.”

Moss nodded. “Alright.”

Louise left the study, her face turning cold and dark the moment she stepped out. She was the one who had poisoned Joanna, using the most vicious, chilling poison from Castle Rock. That was how she’d beaten Joanna years ago, how she’d kept the upper hand all this time. She had won, and she’d held onto that victory.

That was why she hadn’t been afraid when Joanna came back this time.

But now everything was changing.
