The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 761

Mrs. Harmon grinned and reached for David’s hand. She linked it with Ella’s, her eyes sparkling. “Ella, for Lola’s sake, just give David another shot. If he ever hurts you again, he’ll have to answer to me first.”

David shot her a look. “Mom, are you sure I’m your real son?”

Ella couldn’t help but laugh, her lips curling into a smile.

David turned to her, his voice soft. “Ella, will you marry me? Let’s do it. Let’s get married.”

Ella felt her heart finally relax. There was no use holding onto the past. Life was about right now, and she wanted to live in the moment.

She nodded. “Okay.”

David scooped her up and spun her around, laughing like a kid. “This is the best, Ella. We’re getting married. I can’t wait to take you home.”

Lola clapped her hands and bounced on her toes. “Congrats, Daddy! Congrats, Mommy!”

Mrs. Harmon’s smile grew even wider, happiness written all over her face.

David and Ella had made up their minds. They were going to get their marriage license today. It was a workday, so the registry office was open.

David called Ella while she was busy at her studio. She answered right away.

“Ella, you didn’t forget what today is, did you?” His voice was warm and teasing.

Ella smiled into the phone. “Of course I didn’t forget. It’s the day we get married.”

She’d made her decision, so she was ready to start fresh with David and build a real home together.

David glanced at the clock. “I’ll come pick you up.”

“It’s okay,” she said. “My studio’s closer to the registry office. I’ll drive over myself. Let’s just meet there.”

“Alright,” David agreed.

He hung up, and just then, Aiden walked in carrying a file. “Sir, I have an urgent document for you.”

David’s reply was cool and steady. “Jessa, the only reason I was ever with you was because you pretended to be Ella. I was never in love with you. I’ve always loved Ella.”

Jessa’s hands curled into fists at her sides, holding back tears. Why did he have to be so heartless?

David looked her right in the eye. “Actually, it’s good you’re here. There’s something I wanted to tell you.”

She swallowed. “What is it?”

“Ella and I are getting married. Today.”

Jessa froze, the words hitting her like a punch. “Ella agreed to marry you?”

“She did. She’s giving me another chance. We’re starting over.”

Jessa felt the fight drain out of her. After everything she’d done, it still ended up like this.

“Jessa, Ella is about to be my wife. Don’t look for me anymore. I don’t want to see you, and I really don’t want Ella to get the wrong idea.”
