Tonight, Lilly wore a black slip dress that shimmered softly under the lights. The satin hugged her figure, showing off every graceful curve. She had curled her long hair into loose waves, and her pretty, oval face glowed with a touch of delicate makeup. Lilly was always beautiful, but tonight, there was something extra about her—something mature and quietly alluring.
Victoria nudged her forward, making Lilly blush as she glanced at Jason. “Mr. Farill,” she said softly.
Jason couldn’t look away. He had never seen Lilly like this before. For a moment, he just stared, completely taken in.
Victoria burst out laughing. “Hello? Lilly’s talking to you. Jason!”
Snapped out of his trance by her teasing, Jason cleared his throat, a little embarrassed.
Victoria grinned. “Lilly looks so gorgeous tonight that my brother’s lost his words.”
Feeling Jason’s eyes lingering on her, Lilly’s cheeks grew even warmer.
May smiled and waved them over. “Lilly, Victoria, come sit down.”
They took their seats at the table.
Victoria leaned in, still smiling. “So, brother, you didn’t answer my question. Don’t you think Lilly looks amazing?”
Jason glanced at Lilly and nodded, his answer completely honest. “She does. She’s beautiful.”
Victoria giggled at his straightforwardness.
Lilly felt her whole face burning, and she had to look down to hide her smile.
The waiter began to bring out the food. Mr. Lynch turned to Jason. “So, Mr. Farill, if you don’t mind me asking, are you married or single these years?”
“I’m single,” Jason replied.
He paused, then added, “Three years ago, I had a serious injury to my face. Jill is a doctor, so she’s been helping me all this time. That’s all there is between us—just doctor and patient.”
Lilly’s lashes fluttered. Was he saying that for her? So Jill was just his doctor.
Everyone was still at the table, her parents and Victoria included, yet here he was, secretly texting her.
Lilly felt her cheeks heat up all over again. She was about to reply when Mr. Lynch raised his glass. “Mr. Farill, thank you for everything you’ve done for our family. Let’s all have a toast.”
Lilly hurried to put her phone away and picked up her glass. She looked at Jason and echoed, “Mr. Farill, thank you.”
Jason gave her a small, crooked smile.
Dinner ended before long. As they all left the hotel, Mr. Lynch said, “Jason and I both had some wine, so we shouldn’t drive. The assistants will handle it. Lilly, Victoria, you two can ride…”
Before he could finish, Victoria hooked her arm through Lilly’s. “We’ll ride with my brother.”
May nodded in agreement. “Alright, let’s all head out.”
Jason, Lilly, and Victoria walked over to the luxury car. Jason handed the keys to his assistant. “You drive.”
