The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 868

Jason slid into the back seat. Lilly opened her mouth to speak, but before she could get a word out, he gently cupped her face and pressed his lips to hers.

She let out a soft whimper, her whole body relaxing into him. Jason's arms circled her waist, and he pulled her onto his lap, deepening their kiss.

“Jason, where are we?” she managed to ask, a little breathless.

He could feel her tension. “My company’s garage,” he said quietly. “No one comes here. You’re safe.”

Lilly finally let herself relax, her arms winding around his neck. She reached up, fingers brushing his mask.

Jason jerked back just a little. “What are you doing?”

“I want to take off your mask. Aren’t you tired of it?”

He hesitated. “What if you see my face and you can’t stand it?”

Lilly lifted an eyebrow. “Let’s see.”

She slipped the mask off, revealing his face in the dim light.

“You should leave it on,” Jason muttered, his voice tight.

“Seriously, Jason? You want to be with me, but you’re hiding behind a mask? I want to see you.”

She held his face in her hands and kissed him, soft and insistent.

Jason felt her warm lips trailing over his scars, and every muscle in his body tensed. He tried to pull away. “Lilly, don’t… don’t kiss my face.”

There were days he couldn’t even look at himself in the mirror.

She shook her head, her lips brushing his cheek. “No. I want to kiss your face.”

Lilly clung to him, covering his skin in gentle kisses.

Three years?

Lilly blinked at him. “What about the woman you married?”

Jason looked into her eyes. “I never married her.”

She stared at him, stunned. “That can’t be. I saw the wedding.”

He took a breath. “My dad was an undercover cop. He died because of a drug lord. That wedding… it was all a setup. I needed to get close to that man, to get revenge for my father.”

He looked away for a moment, then back at her. “Three years ago, I had no choice but to be with that woman. I’m sorry. I couldn’t tell you. I was scared you’d get hurt. I knew you were outside the wedding that day. I saw you. But the drug lord was there too. I couldn’t risk it, so I went through with it.”

“After you left, the drug lord showed up. I worked with the police and we took him down. I finally got justice for my dad.”

Lilly listened, her heart pounding. So all this time, that heartbreaking breakup had a reason. The marriage was fake. He’d pushed her away because he was trying to protect her.
