Lilly’s heart leapt. Marriage?
“With who?” she blurted, still a little out of it.
Jason didn’t answer. Instead, he pressed his mouth to hers, biting her soft, flushed lips.
She winced. “That hurt.”
Jason’s eyes were dark and intense. “Good. Tell me, Lilly, who else would you marry?”
She hesitated. “I…”
He leaned closer. “Is there anyone else but me? Have you ever thought about marrying me?”
Marrying Jason. The idea hit her out of nowhere. They had only just found each other again, but then she thought, if it hadn’t been for what happened three years ago, they probably would already be married.
“Jason, do you really want to marry me?”
He pulled her close, arms around her waist, holding her so tight she could barely breathe. “Yeah. I want to marry you. Will you marry me?”
Her heart pounded so loud she was sure he could hear it.
“Lilly, marry me. I used to have nothing, but now I’ve built something for myself. I can give you a good life. Before, I didn’t even dare to dream you’d say yes. Now, I want it more than anything. I’ve thought about you every single day for the past three years. I missed you so much I couldn’t sleep. Do you know what that’s like? I’ve never loved anyone the way I love you, Lilly. I love you so much.”
He was confessing everything.
Three years’ worth of longing spilled out, his voice low and husky, barely more than a whisper in the steamy warmth of the shower. Lola was just outside, so he kept his voice soft, but the words vibrated right against her ear. She couldn’t resist him.
He just kept telling her how much he loved her, over and over.
She gazed into his eyes, so full of heat she felt like she might just melt away.
But Jason kissed her again, cutting off her words, and she let herself get lost in him.
Somewhere in the haze, she heard him whisper, “Lilly, let’s have a baby.”
Next day, Lola went home with Ella. David wasn’t doing well, so Ella was run off her feet.
Jason and Lilly set out for Tibet together. The Frost Orchid only bloomed once every fifty years, and it was the one thing that could heal Jason’s scars.
They arrived in Tibet and checked into a cozy guesthouse.
The owner greeted them with a big smile. “Are you two here on vacation?”
Jason and Lilly were inseparable. Anyone could see how close they were, like they’d been married for years.
Lilly didn’t bother correcting the owner. She and Jason would be getting married soon anyway.
