Lilly’s eyes flickered with confusion. What was he talking about? Whether he came home at night wasn't something she could control.
Rainwater dripped from his handsome, chiseled jaw. Worried he might catch a cold, Lilly said quickly, "You're soaked. Let me get you a towel."
Lilly went into the bathroom, grabbed a towel, and came back out, offering it to him. "Here, dry yourself off. You should take a hot shower so you don't get sick."
Jason snatched the towel and threw it onto the floor. "Lilly, why are you pretending to care now? Are you just planning to play another game with me?"
Lilly stared at the towel lying on the carpet, genuinely stunned. "Mr. Farill, what is that supposed to mean? What's gotten into you? Did your date with the little college girl not go well?"
After saying her piece, Lilly turned to walk away.
But Jason grabbed her slender arm, stopping her.
Lilly struggled. "What are you doing? Let go of me!"
Jason sneered. "So you did know I was out on a date with someone else. I bet you were just hoping we'd have a wonderful time, maybe even get a hotel room for the night. That would have made you happy, wouldn't it?"
Lilly truly couldn't understand what he was talking about. What right did he have to come back and be so hostile toward her? What had she done to offend him?
He was the one who went on a date with someone else, and now he was coming home to take it out on her. Did he think she was just an easy target?
Lilly met his intense stare, her eyes wide and defiant. "Mr. Farill, if you have something to say, then say it and get out."
Jason yanked her forward, pulling her right up against him. "Did that Pattie girl ask you to get my number?"
Lilly didn't want to talk about this, but since he asked, she told him the truth. "Yes, she asked me to. I honestly didn't think you'd give it, Mr. Farill. Does your girlfriend know you're adding other girls and going on dates?"
