Finnegan swiftly followed the trajectory of the bullet, simultaneously focusing his spiritual energy in his eyes to pierce through everything. He quickly locked onto Cameron on the rooftop, who was disassembling a sniper rifle.
This time, Cameron wasn't wearing a mask. It was just that ordinary, unremarkable face.
He knew that the face had been disguised.
Finnegan intensified his gaze, attempting to see through the disguise mask to capture the true appearance of Cameron.
However, the distance was too great, and his eyesight had already reached its limit.
As soon as he began to channel his spiritual energy, a slight sting shot through his eyes, causing him to involuntarily shed tears.
Subconsciously, Finnegan closed his eyes. When he opened them again, he cursed, “D*mn it!”
It wasn't that his spiritual energy was insufficient, but rather his eyes were not yet capable of enduring it.
It was as if one had an engine that could only produce a hundred horsepower, yet they insisted on pushing it to reach a hundred and thirty or forty. That was certainly not feasible.
Finnegan had no choice but to temporarily disengage his penetrating gaze, quickening his pace toward the towering building.
The architecture of the surrounding streets was not very regular, and the routes were not straight. Finnegan had to detour, which inadvertently consumed some of his time.
Atop the high-rise building, Cameron had already assembled his sniper rifle.
Sensing something, he picked up the binoculars and glanced through them. In an alleyway, he caught sight of Finnegan's figure rapidly approaching.
A sinister smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. “I'm truly curious. Why is your lock-on ability always so strong?”
Subsequently, Cameron did not leave. Instead, he turned to look at the only door leading to the rooftop.
Finnegan saw that Cameron hadn't left. He's still standing there!
A thought crossed his mind, and Finnegan revealed a radiant smile. “It seems you've left an escape route again. However, what difference would it make if you got away today?”
All Finnegan wanted was to get close enough to capture Cameron's true appearance.
Therefore, Finnegan quickened his pace and soon arrived at the towering building.
Assured that Cameron was still on the rooftop, Finnegan rushed in and entered the elevator, pressing the button for the top floor.
The elevator ascended slowly, with Finnegan maintaining absolute vigilance throughout.
The bomb incident at the hotel last time had somewhat traumatized him.
Soon, the elevator came to a halt at the topmost floor.
After Finnegan stepped out, he headed toward the staircase. Following it upward, he reached the rooftop, where he spotted Cameron.
“You arrived so quickly!” Cameron gave a cold laugh.
Finnegan nodded, his gaze intensifying subtly.
Indeed, beneath Cameron's ordinary face, there was another face.
A face that somewhat surprised Finnegan. It wasn't that he recognized him, but rather, beneath the disguise of the mask, there was a distinctly refined and humble countenance. Could there be another mask beneath the mask?
Reflecting on that and recalling what Reynard had said, Finnegan continued his scrutiny.
Only then did Finnegan relax inwardly, realizing that beneath Cameron's mask was his true appearance. Indeed, one can't judge a book by its cover! Who would have thought that a seemingly refined individual could actually be an unscrupulous assassin?
Seeing that Finnegan didn't respond, Cameron felt a vague sense of unease, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what was wrong. “What are you looking at?” he asked.
Finnegan's gaze dissipated, a hint of amusement flickering in his eyes. “It's nothing,” he said. “I'm just curious. You were originally intending to kill me, so why did you end up pointing your gun at that detestable mother and son instead?”
“You think you can definitely defeat me next time? You probably don't realize that I'll soon leave you with no place to hide.” With a cold laugh, Finnegan turned around, whistling. Now that I have discovered Cameron's true identity, all I need is someone to piece together the photograph, and he will have nowhere left to hide!
Upon seeing him, Bernice hurried over. “Where have you just been?”
Finnegan replied, “I was considering whether I could catch that sniper, but unfortunately, I didn't even see anyone.”
To avoid giving Bernice any chance to spot the flaws in his lie, Finnegan quickly changed the subject, asking, “How are Braxler and his mother doing?”
Bernice furrowed her brows as she glanced at Finnegan.
She actually wanted to ask if the sniper was targeting him, but Finnegan didn't want to talk about it, so she let go of her intention to probe further. She sighed and replied, “The ambulance has already taken them away. However, the doctor accompanying them said that their spleens, lungs, and major arteries had been pierced by bullets. They might not make it to the hospital in time for treatment.”
A sense of satisfaction secretly surged in Finnegan's heart when he heard that. Cameron did a good job. He took care of all the things that were inconvenient for me to handle.
In front of everyone, Finnegan naturally wouldn't show what was on his mind. “It's truly pitiful for the mother and son. So, what about you all now?”
“We are witnesses. The police asked us to recount the situation at that time. Do you want to go?”
When the police arrived, Finnegan was not present, and they made no mention of Finnegan's existence.
Finnegan shook his head and said, “You guys go ahead. I have some matters to attend to.”
“All right. Just be careful, then. When the time comes, you can go straight to my granny's house.”
Watching Bernice and the others leave by car, Finnegan moved aside and dialed Reynard's number. “You're aware of the situation, right? Then arrange something discreetly. Find any excuse to explain it, like the mother and son had provoked someone, leading to them being targeted. After that, have the police department release them!”
After saying that, Finnegan hung up the phone and called Alisha. “That detestable mother and son probably won't survive. Cancel the original plan.”
Alisha said, “I'm afraid there's no way to cancel it.”
Finnegan was taken aback when he heard that. “Why can't the arrangements you made be canceled?”
“I'll come pick you up first, and we'll talk.”
