The Healing Avenger novel Chapter 348

The appearance of Cameron caused everyone to miss their lunch.

So, when Alisha arrived, Finnegan had her find a restaurant where they casually ordered some spaghetti.

“Go ahead. What happened?”

In response to the requests of Bernice and Jennifer, Finnegan not only used hypnosis to awaken Nicolette but also had Alisha make some arrangements.

He wanted her to send men to take Marion and Braxler away to teach them a lesson. He made sure they would never dare to show their faces in front of the Chance family again.

However, when Alisha unexpectedly said that the plan couldn't be canceled, Finnegan was somewhat bewildered.

Alisha replied, “After receiving your message, I investigated that mother and son. I thought it would be better to find a suitable reason to stir up trouble with them, so no one would suspect you. As a result, I found out that Braxler owed four million to a loan shark. So, I decided to use their circumstances against them. I discreetly spread the word to the moneylenders that Braxler was planning to flee with his mother. The moneylenders would naturally seek them out, and might even eliminate them. This is like killing two birds with one stone!”

It could serve as a lifelong lesson for Marion and her son, and also allow Nicolette to see the true colors of Braxler.

Unexpectedly, Cameron appeared and pointed his gun at Marion and her son.

Finnegan took a bite of his meal. “No wonder you said you couldn't cancel it. It turns out it wasn't your man. But why does Braxler owe four million to the loansharks?”

The moneylenders were ruthless, but their priority was still to make money.

Lending money to someone like Braxler, who had no ability to repay, was futile. Even if he were killed, the money could not be recovered.

Alisha shrugged her shoulders. “All I know is that he owed four million in high-interest loans because he got into a car accident while renting a car to take a woman out. He had to compensate the car rental company. As for how he was able to borrow four million, I didn't look into it, and I don't think it's necessary, is it?”

Upon hearing this, Finnegan nodded in agreement. Indeed, there was no need for him to know how the money was borrowed.

Upon hearing these words, Finnegan let out a snigger. “If he's dead, it's no more than what he deserves.”

Despite having such an amazing fiancée like Nicolette, who was blessed with both beauty and talent, he was secretly cheating on her.

Alisha laughed and said, “I guess this is a common flaw among men.”

No matter how good things were at home, one would always find that the grass was greener on the other side.

Finnegan scoffed, “Don't make sweeping generalizations like that. At least I'm not!”

“Don't worry. Sooner or later you'll realize how captivating I am.”

“Over my dead body!”

Just after four in the afternoon, Finnegan gave Bernice a call while on a leisurely stroll.

Upon learning that they had already returned, Finnegan got Alisha to send him to the Chance residence.

“Nickie, don't be too heartbroken. This is the fact of that mother and son. Moreover, Braxler has been manipulating you for so many years. His character is questionable, and he's not worth your sorrow. You have to adjust your mindset. In the future, I will introduce you to a young and capable man who's a hundred times better than Braxler.”

Upon entering the courtyard, Finnegan saw everyone there comforting Nicolette.

It turned out that although Marion and Braxler had managed to reach the hospital, their injuries were too severe. Coupled with excessive blood loss, they both passed away on the operating table.

Despite having let go of her six-year relationship with Braxler, Nicolette couldn't help but feel heartbroken when she learned of what happened.

“Grandma and Grandpa, please don't worry anymore. I will adjust my mindset.”

Jennifer patted the back of Nicolette's hand. “It's good that you can see things from the right perspective. Don't let everyone worry about you anymore.”

The latter said, “I'm fine. I'm moving on from it. What matters most is everyone having a good time.”

“Alright then, I'll reserve a restaurant. It will be nice for the family to gather together.”

Taking advantage of everyone's improved mood, Bernice led Finnegan into a room and closed the door behind them.

Upon seeing this, Finnegan chuckled and asked, “Darling, are you planning to fulfill your promise? But isn't this a bit inappropriate? How about we book a hotel after dinner?”

In the blink of an eye, a blush swept across Bernice's face.

She raised her hand and slapped Finnegan. “Meanie, you're always picking on me. That's the last thing on my mind.”

To prevent Finnegan from continuing to tease her, Bernice changed the subject abruptly. “What was the deal with the sniper today? And why didn't you save Braxler and the others at that time?”

Originally, Finnegan had intended to concoct an excuse to gloss over the situation.

When Bernice asked, it was clear that she already had the answer in her mind. “Darling, there are some things I can't tell you yet to spare you from worry. As for Braxler and his mother, I was powerless to save them!”

Bernice narrowed her eyes. “Was it really impossible?”

There must have been a way.

However, Finnegan knew he couldn't admit it, he couldn't let Bernice know that he deliberately watched as Marion and Braxler were murdered. “I really had no choice. If I had jumped out to save them, I might have been shot.”

She gazed deeply at Finnegan, and with a soft sigh, Bernice said, “Finnegan, I don't know what you've been through these past few years, but I always feel that your temperament—”

“Is there someone by the name Nicolette Chance here? Come out immediately!”
