The Healing Avenger novel Chapter 356

Amidst a chorus of congratulatory cheers that filled the air, Josef quietly slipped away to the eastern courtyard.

“You've already passed the prime age for cultivation, but this technique can compensate for that deficiency. But remember, martial arts techniques can only compensate for the shortcomings of your age, but it doesn't mean you can neglect your training. Otherwise, your achievements in the path of martial arts would still not be significant. Furthermore, I will impart to you a body-forging technique to solidify your foundation. In this way, whether you break into the Amber Realm or make a future breakthrough into the Enigma Realm, your efforts will yield twice the results.”

Finnegan was there, imparting the martial arts techniques to Eugene. Consequently, Josef did not approach them. Instead, he stood aside and waited.

After waiting for nearly two hours, Eugene finally fully grasped the martial arts techniques imparted by Finnegan.

Josef had just walked over. “Having the opportunity to learn the techniques taught by Master... Finnegan is your good fortune. You must strive even harder in the future; don't let him down.”

With a burst of energy, Eugene made a spirited promise. “Master, rest assured, I will diligently practice. I aim to reach the Amber Realm within a few months, break into the Enigma Realm within a year, and become a Grandmaster of the Terra Realm within five years!”

The corners of Josef's mouth twitched.

He then gave a bitter smile. “All I asked was for you to practice diligently, not for you to spout nonsense!”

When it came to the path of martial arts, each level was more challenging than the last.

A few months might be sufficient to achieve the Amber Realm, and with talent and enough effort, one could even reach the Enigma Realm in a year or two.

However, the notion of becoming a Terra Realm Grandmaster in five years was unheard of to Josef.

Furthermore, he knew that although Finnegan had been training for five years and possessed the strength to battle a master of the Terra Realm, he was not actually of the Terra Realm.

Eugene flashed an awkward smile. “Master, I was just joking.”

Finnegan said, “Cut back on such jokes in the future. You should head home now. Tidy up a bit, spend some more time with your granddad, then return to Jipsdale with Master Sheppard.”

“Finnegan, I'll take my leave now. Master, I'll come to find you tomorrow.”

Only after Eugene had left, did Josef sit down.

Finnegan asked, “How did it go?”

Josef respectfully replied, “Yadiel was already well-liked among the people of Nuthana Martial Arts Alliance, so his succession as president shouldn't pose much of a problem. As for Kieran, he seemed somewhat dissatisfied and left in a huff right on the spot.”

Touching his nose, Finnegan said, “If it's just a momentary resentment, that's fine. But it's worrisome if the defiance persists!”

“Mr. Larkin, what do you mean?”

Finnegan patted Josef's shoulder. “Do you think Kieran is unaware of Holger using the power of the Martial Arts Alliance to lend money at high-interest rates? So...”

His tone suddenly turned cold. “Investigate thoroughly. I want a result before I leave Capston. I don't want any trouble for myself!”

Kieran failed to be elected as the president. He wouldn't harbor resentment toward Yadiel, the one who took the presidency from him. Instead, he would resent Finnegan, the commissary of the chairman.

Because it was clear to anyone who wasn't a fool; he had been favoring Yadiel from the very beginning.

Josef's eyes narrowed. “But you are the commissary of the chairman, holding the South-North Badge of the Martial Arts Alliance. Would he dare to retaliate against you?”

With a chuckle, Finnegan asked, “What do you think?”

Hearing this and considering his understanding of Kieran, Josef became solemn. “Rest assured, Mr. Larkin. I know what to do.”

Finnegan sighed and said, “Keep an eye on Jasper while you're at it. His resentment is no less than that of Kieran.”

“Understood!”

At a private residence.

Kieran's house.

Smack!

If Finnegan had obtained the right to act as the commissary of the chairman three times solely because he had once saved the latter, he should have done even more so to seize this opportunity for his own advantage.

He wouldn't have used this opportunity to help Yadiel rise to power and offend me and Jasper instead.

It made absolutely no sense at all!

The disciple of the Martial Arts Alliance covered his face in a hurry and explained, “Mr. Marlowe, at first glance, it indeed seems like he was acting on the orders of the chairman. But the truth is, he had a motive to prevent you from becoming the president!”

Fearful that Kieran might hit him again, he quickly added, “Because it was only after Mr. Holger had a conflict with him that he was taken out by Mr. Sheppard. He has every reason to prevent you from becoming the president, to avoid any future retaliation against him!”

He then recounted to Kieran, in detail, the events that had transpired at the Chance family the day before.

After Kieran heard that, his expression grew even darker. “So, you're saying that he supported Yadiel's rise to power to prevent me from investigating him? This way, even if I did find out, he would still have Yadiel's protection, wouldn't he?”

The disciple of the Martial Arts Alliance hastily nodded in response. “It must be so. Otherwise, how could someone so young have the qualifications to become a commissary of the chairman? So, he did this to nip potential problems in the bud, leveraging the favor owed to him by the chairman to suppress you and currying favor with Yadiel as his backup.”

Narrowing his eyes in silence for a moment, Kieran then looked again at the information about Finnegan in his hands.

“So, this young man actually has some medical skills and a bit of a relationship with the wealthy families of Jadeborough, but he doesn't have a deep connection with the chairman of the association? Today, he was elevated to a high position under the name of a commissary of the chairman. Was that all a consequence of what Holger set up for me yesterday?”

“I'm sure that's the reason. One hundred percent!”

The disciple of the Martial Arts Alliance was uncertain, but at that moment, he had no choice but to respond with a stiff upper lip.

With a cold laugh, Kieran said, “I thought he was the offspring of some Martial Arts Alliance elder, but he turns out to be a mere brat pretending to be powerful. If I had known, I wouldn't have given an inch back then!”

He paused before saying, “However, we still need to be cautious. After all, he is the one who treated the chairman. Mr. Jenkins wouldn't allow us to disrespect him, at least not publicly.”

“Mr. Marlowe, what are you going to do? That young man caused you to lose your position as president.”

“Josef is leaving tomorrow, isn't he? Let's discuss this after he leaves. I won't let that young man off easily.”
