“Finnegan, thank you for tonight.”
Outside Golden Archway, Lindsey felt a lingering fear as she thanked Finnegan.
Had it not been for his help, she would have certainly been violated by Christopher.
“We are friends, there's no need for thanks. But, will you be going back to work afterwards?” Finnegan said.
Lindsey flashed him a wry smile. “Do you think I can still go back?”
Perhaps Sabrina was too intimidated to say anything to Finnegan, but she would inevitably pull some dirty moves in secret.
Moreover, after this incident, she no longer wanted to assist Sabrina with her affairs.
Finnegan said, “If you're facing any difficulties, don't hesitate to tell me. I'll certainly help if I can!”
Seeing that the driver she had called for had arrived, Lindsey nodded, “All right. I'll definitely let you know if anything comes up. I'll be leaving now, okay?”
However, her tone suggested that she was hoping Finnegan would hold her back.
Finnegan had also heard it, but he pretended not to. “You should go back and rest early.”
The look in Lindsey's eyes dimmed slightly as she gave a nod and got into the car. “I'll treat you to a meal another day.”
As he watched the car disappear into the distance, Finnegan also turned around, ready to leave, only to see Madison standing not far away.
Hesitant, Finnegan walked over and said, “I have a friend who's drunk and still in the car, so I'll be leaving first.”
Originally, Madison had wanted to ask Finnegan some questions.
After some thought, she managed to hold herself back and asked, “Are you free tomorrow? I came to Jadeborough this time to take care of some matters and I have to return the day after tomorrow. I was hoping to have a meal with you alone.”
In the past, Finnegan would have certainly rejected the proposition.
Now that he knew Madison was already engaged, however, Finnegan agreed without a second thought. “All right; we'll get in touch tomorrow.”
Having said that, Finnegan headed toward the elevator leading to the underground parking lot.
Madison watched him intently, not averting her gaze until he had entered the elevator.
At that moment, two women emerged from behind.
After glancing toward the elevator, one of them asked, “Do you like him, Ms. Zeller?”
Madison nodded, her demeanor shifting entirely from the gentle and demure attitude she had just displayed. A certain coldness now prevailed as she asked, “Have you noticed?”
The woman nodded and replied, “The way you looked at him revealed a lot. You must be careful, Ms. Zeller. Otherwise, it could cause him a great deal of trouble. After all, your fiancé was sought by your family, and they won't allow you to stray from the path they have chosen.”
Madison furrowed her brows.
With a reassuring smile, she said, “Don't worry; I will gradually bury these feelings deep within my heart.”
Upon arriving at the underground parking lot, Finnegan found that Cindy had already fallen asleep.
He had no choice but to hire a designated driver to take Cindy back to her residential area.
“Wake up, we're home!”
After paying the designated driver, Finnegan opened the rear car door and nudged Cindy.
Bleary-eyed, Cindy opened her eyes and sat up.
“We're home?”
“Duh! Now, hurry up and get off the car! I need to go home too.”
Cindy reluctantly moved to the door, appearing somewhat feeble. Finnegan could only help her down, advising, “If you can't handle liquor, you should drink less in the future.”
“Mind your own business!” Cindy pushed Finnegan away and staggered forward.
She had barely taken two steps before she turned back, bending over to rummage through the car. She then pulled out a box containing ten condoms, “Almost forgot to take these. Remember to use them later.”
Finnegan's mouth twitched slightly.
Could it be that this woman usually behaves like this when she drinks too much? She just casually brings a man home to have sex with him? That's not right! She's still a girl!
Subsequently, Finnegan did not leave immediately.
He pulled out a golden needle and applied acupuncture to her head, to prevent her from waking up with a headache the next morning.
However, Cindy, in a daze, lifted up the box of condoms and said, “You didn't wear a condom earlier. You must put it on this time.”
“What kind of illusion is she having?”
With a resigned smile, Finnegan removed the acupuncture needle and didn't linger any longer. He turned off the bedroom light and left her house.
It was already past eleven when he returned to Dragon Bay, but Bernice was still not asleep.
Upon smelling a strong scent of alcohol on him, she asked, “Did you go drinking with Cin?”
Finnegan walked over and sat down, casually wrapping an arm around her as he replied, “I had a little to drink. But then Casper invited me to a high school reunion, and I ended up drinking more than I intended,” he admitted.
Bernice did not suspect a thing.
Or perhaps she trusted Finnegan. “I was wondering why you came back so late. Hurry up and take a shower. You stink.”
“All right, I'll go freshen up immediately for you to enjoy, my darling wife,” Finnegan responded with a smile and then walked into the bathroom.
Upon hearing this, Bernice's cheeks flushed with embarrassment. “You meanie, why didn't you close the door?”
Finnegan chuckled as he replied, “You're my wife, so why should I hide anything from you? It's not like you haven't seen it all before.”
“What a meanie!” Bernice huffed, but her eyes were quite honest.
“By the way, what was discussed tonight?” Finnegan asked.
When the topic came up, Bernice became slightly agitated. “Tonight, in front of all the Zimmermans, my grandfather announced that on the day of the 48th anniversary celebration, my father will take over the Zimmerman family and the company. He even instructed the lawyers present to immediately prepare the relevant documents once they returned.”
“Your grandfather sure is efficient, huh? Did your grandmother and Uncle Bishop's family have any objections?”
Bernice flashed him a helpless smile. “Of course there were objections. But this time, Grandpa was very determined, so they had no choice but to let it go and accept it!”
Finnegan's eyelids twitched, a sense of foreboding washing over him. “Let's hope so,” he said.
