The Healing Avenger novel Chapter 381

After chatting with Bennett for a while, Finnegan left the bakery.

By the riverside pavilion, under the soft shade of the trees, Rhiannon and two others were engaged in conversation.

“Finn, take a seat here!” Seeing Finnegan approach, Rhiannon quickly vacated the spot next to Lindsey.

Finnegan cast a deep gaze at his mischievous younger sister. It seems a lesson indeed needs to be taught.

Even though she knew that he and Bernice were already engaged, she still helped other women get close to him.

Rhiannon's eyes flickered, her guilt preventing her from meeting Finnegan's gaze. “Finnegan, please sit down quickly.”

Foolish girl. Finnegan had no choice but to walk over and sit down next to Lindsey. “Did you resign?”

Lindsey clearly hadn't slept well the previous night, her eyes still tinged with red. “Sabrina has already treated me like this. I definitely can't stay any longer. So, I went to the store early in the morning to pack up my things. I also mentioned it to the finance department, asking them to tell Sabrina later that I had left.”

Finnegan touched his nose. “I'm afraid Sabrina might not be able to hear it.”

“Why not?”

“Sabrina is dead, and Christopher, who oppressed you through Sabrina, is also dead.”

Lindsey's expression changed abruptly. “Dead? How could that be possible?”

“They're dead for real!”

Finnegan recounted the deaths of Sabrina and Christopher, including the gruesome details of their demise. Their severed heads had yet to be found.

In the end, he added, “Leonardo and Beckett initially thought I was the one who did it. They rushed to Dragon Bay early this morning to settle the score with me.”

Rhiannon exclaimed in anger, “Do they not have brains? This is clearly a setup. Although, who could be so cruel? It wasn't enough to just kill someone. They had to torture them and sever their heads?”

Nancy, with a palpable sense of unease, responded, “Murder is already heinous enough, but to torment someone before killing them and then severing their head... They're savages.”

Lindsey said with complexity, “Sabrina and Christopher were indeed detestable, but their crimes did not warrant death. Who on earth killed them? They're simply inhuman!”

Observing their anxious expressions, Finnegan chuckled, “All right, let's not discuss this anymore. It has nothing to do with us.”

Rhiannon nodded. “Yes, let's not talk about this. It'll spoil our appetite.”

She then turned to Lindsey and asked, “What do you plan to do next?”

“I've already received invitations from four car dealerships,” Lindsey replied. “However, I've been working non-stop since graduating from university and haven't really taken the time to relax. I plan to take this opportunity to take a vacation, adjust my mood, and then decide where to work.”

“Why don't you come to work with me at Pentariver Group? The prospects at a big company are also promising.”

“I have indeed considered this. If I really go, I'll have to trouble you to introduce me.”

“It's all right. Whether it's Pentariver Group, Howard Group, or Miles Group, you just have to ask. I can arrange everything for you!”

Seeing Rhiannon patting her chest in assurance, Finnegan narrowed his eyes. “Rhia, you seem to have quite a wide network. How did you manage to build it up?”

Rhiannon's eyes flickered. She rose from her seat with a playful laugh. “I'm going to use the restroom. You guys carry on with your conversation.”

She turned on her heels and sprinted toward the distance as if she were worried about being reprimanded by Finnegan.

At that moment, a taxi also arrived from the distance.

Lindsey rose to her feet and said, “It should be my brother who's arrived. Please, stay seated.”

Upon leaving the pavilion, she headed toward the taxi.

A moment later, she came over with a young man.

The young man, dressed in a set of white casual clothes, was wearing a pair of black-framed glasses and sporting short hair, appearing kind of weak.

“Stan, this is Finnegan, Rhia's elder brother. Next to him is Nancy, Rhia's classmate and also my junior from elementary school. Finnegan, Nancy, this is my brother Stanley, a rather traditional researcher,” introduced Lindsey.

The sight that met their eyes was of Cameron, masked and cloaked, holding Rhiannon hostage with a knife. Shockingly, strapped to Rhiannon's body was a ticking bomb, its countdown ominously underway.

There were only nine minutes and twenty seconds left.

Rhiannon cried out, “Finn, what's going on? I had just come out of the restroom when he suddenly jumped down from the tree and grabbed me. He even planted these things on me. I'm scared!”

Bennett and Lindsey also arrived one after the other.

Upon seeing that situation, Lindsey urgently exclaimed, “Rhia!”

Nancy was about to call the police on her cellphone.

However, Finnegan stopped her, looking straight at Cameron. “What do you intend to do?”

Cameron gave a sly smile. “Finnegan, do you remember what I told you back in Capston? I mentioned that I had thought of a particularly interesting method, one that would surely kill you.”

Clearly, Cameron's strategy was to capture Rhiannon, using her as a bargaining chip against Finnegan.

“An assassin employing the tactics of a mercenary. Don't you feel disgraced?” Finnegan's tone had already turned icy cold.

Cameron, however, was nonchalant. “Indeed, as an assassin, one should lurk in the shadows, striking a lethal blow without revealing oneself to the target. However, I have no choice. You were too difficult to kill. I had to resort to this method.”

Finnegan said in a deep voice, “So?”

“Sever your own arms first, and I will immediately release your sister.”

Finnegan narrowed his eyes and asked, “And what if I don't?”

“Do you think you have the right to negotiate?” Cameron's dagger was held directly against Rhiannon's pale neck, clearly indicating that if Finnegan didn't comply, he would not hesitate to kill Rhiannon.

However, Finnegan suddenly laughed. “Cameron, do you think you're the only one capable of scheming?”
