The Healing Avenger novel Chapter 388

Theoden's body trembled violently, while his pupils abruptly constricted.

Finnegan turned to look at him. “During your journey to Jadeborough with Bradley, your second son, Barry, and your third son, Dalton, were simultaneously ambushed. Along with their bodyguards, they were all killed. Your beloved granddaughter didn't know how to tell you, so it fell upon me to do so.”

Theoden staggered backward.

He managed to stay upright only by leaning on the edge of the stone table. Yet, his face, etched with wrinkles, was already filled with sorrow.

“They're dead?”

Finnegan nodded. “Yes. There wasn't even a chance to save them. As for you... you have to hold on!”

The people behind the Zymons family were undoubtedly behind the attack today.

They were those who occupied the pinnacle of the social pyramid.

Theoden had no choice but to play by their rules. Otherwise, he was certain to meet his demise.

Even the entire Wahlstrom family could faced total annihilation.

With a mix of grief and indignation, Theoden exclaimed, “Oh, how I hate them!”

Even though it was clear who was pulling the strings from behind, retaliation was not an option. Instead, feigning ignorance was necessary.

Finnegan said, “No matter how deep your hatred is, you must endure it. Otherwise, if you really do something, they have a hundred ways to eliminate you. As long as you endure and hold back, you still have a chance to avenge your deceased sons!”

With a pained look in his eyes, Theoden asked, “Will I even get such a chance?”

In front of those people, members of the Wahlstrom family were nothing but insects.

Finnegan patted his shoulder in consolation. “Despite their noble position and the fact that they are superior to countless others, it doesn't mean they can act recklessly. They too have rules to abide by. Otherwise, they wouldn't have acted in secret, but would have openly wiped out the Wahlstrom family!”

Suppressing his sorrow, Theoden asked, “But what did my family do to offend them?”

With a gentle sigh, Finnegan rose to his feet, hands tucked into his pockets. “For those in high positions, they don't need reasons for their actions. As long as the outcome satisfies their needs, that's all that matters. So, take a moment to calm down and think about what to do next. I'll go to the Wright residence and help you confirm a few things.”

Not long after Finnegan left, Alisha arrived.

She saw Theoden's face filled with sorrow. The latter looked like he had aged dramatically in one day.

Unable to suppress her heartache, she asked, “Grandpa, do you already know?”

Theoden closed his eyes and let out a heavy sigh. “Don't worry about me. I can bear with it still.”

Alisha sat down, her heart aching as she held his hand. “Grandpa, if these people weren't sent by the Zymons family, who sent them?”

Opening his eyes, Theoden gently patted the back of Alisha's hand. “There are some things that it's better you don't know, so you won't feel helpless.” He paused, then added with a serious tone, “Also, make sure to stay close to Dr. Larkin. Only Dr. Larkin can ensure your safety if anything happens to our family!”

“Grandpa, what in the world happened?”

“You might come to understand in the future, but for now, it's best not to ask.”

An hour later, Finnegan was on the phone with Bernice as he entered the Wright residence.

“My dear, I'll be quite busy with some matters these next few days. I've also let all the housekeepers go, so perhaps it would be best if you stayed at your family's home for a while.”

Bernice asked, “What happened?”

Finnegan strolled toward Nathan's courtyard, responding as he went, “There was a minor issue, but it's nothing serious. You don't need to worry.”

Moreover, Finnegan had stopped Hank's interference when it came to the incident with Golden Hades.

Therefore, now that he was making a comeback, Finnegan had to consider the possibility that Hank might harm him.

Nathan took a sip of his coffee. “Although there's no direct evidence linking this matter to Hank at present, it's highly likely he is involved in the incident with Golden Hades. As for making a move against you, it seems unlikely for now because it appears that Hank admires you!”

With a strange expression, Finnegan asked, “Admire me? Isn't it more likely that he wants me dead?”

Nathan said, “To someone of Hank's status, hatred is just a trivial emotion. He tends to care more about profit and his interests. In other words, as long as something is aligned with his goals and interests, he can accept anything, including you insulting him to his face.”

Finnegan furrowed his brows. “Are you suggesting that b*stard's sees value in me?”

Nathan nodded. “That's right. Hank might be trying to win you over to his side, so he won't do anything to you in the short term!”

Finnegan recalled that Yasmine had also intended to win him over.

Thus, he knew there was a good chance that Nathan's words were true. “So, does that mean that the b*stard might be coming to Jadeborough soon?”

Nathan's gaze deepened slightly. “It's no longer a matter of probability now, as it's already on his schedule. He will arrive in Jadeborough at the beginning of next month. Officially, it's for business.”

With a smirk, Finnegan rose to his feet and said, “The Wahlstrom family has suffered a great misfortune. Old Mr. Wahlstrom has lost two sons, and the Zymons family will inevitably make a major move next. I think they're more likely here to secure the fruits of victory!”

With an insidious smile, Nathan asked, “It seems you're well aware of the situation. So, what do you plan to do? After all, the Wahlstrom family is practically one of your affiliated forces.”

With a mischievous grin, Finnegan strode toward the courtyard. “You've said it yourself. The Wahlstrom family is one of my affiliated forces. How could I possibly let that b*stard succeed?”

Watching Finnegan's departing figure, Nathan's gaze grew increasingly profound.

“This guy seems to be gearing up for a proxy conflict with Hank. Who would have the upper hand?”
