Chapter 885
Just then, the doctor called out from outside, “Mr. Neel, come here and pick up the test results.
“1
“Alright, I’m coming.”
Martin stepped out of the room. That left Shaun alone in the hospital room, still fast asleep in his bed.
Suddenly, with a quiet creak, the door pushed open and someone walked in.
It was Halsey.
She had come.
Halsey tiptoed softly over to the bed and looked down at Shaun, still unconscious.
His face was pale, and he hadn’t shaved in days. A shadow of stubble covered his jaw, making him look even more worn out.
Back then, Dwight might’ve been poor, but he had always looked sharp and full of life. Later, Shaun had become a rising star in the business world, admired by everyone.
Halsey had never seen him like this-so weak, so fragile. He just lay there, completely still.
She knew she shouldn’t have come. In the end, she couldn’t stay away. No one would know. She just wanted to see him, just once.
Seeing him like this, her eyes turned red, and tears the size of pearls began falling down her cheeks.
“You idiot,” she whispered, barely audible.
Halsey slowly reached out, her pale fingers gently brushing against his face. She silently prayed that he would get better soon. Seeing him like this broke her heart.
Right then, Shaun suddenly opened his eyes and grabbed her hand.
Halsey froze, completely caught off guard. She hadn’t expected him to wake up.
Shaun looked at her, full of joy. “You came to see me? I knew you would!”
He pulled hard, and Halsey fell into his arms. He wrapped her tightly in a hug.
“I knew you couldn’t be that heartless. I knew you still loved me and that you’d come. Let’s not break up, okay? Let’s go back to how we used to be.”
He was too excited, holding her with all his strength like he wanted to melt her into him.
But Halsey saw the blood backing up into the IV line in his hand and panicked. She struggled. ” Let go!”
“No, I won’t! If I let go, you’ll leave. I want to be with you!”
With a heavy heart, Halsey shoved him away. “Calm down! I didn’t come because I wanted to. Martin just kept calling me over and over!”
“What…”
“Well, now that I’ve seen you’re fine, I’m leaving.”
She turned and walked out.
“Don’t go!”
Shaun yanked out his IV and threw off the covers, getting out of bed. His body was still weak, but he staggered after her anyway.
