Chelsea immediately urged, “Then hurry up and start the procedure. We want to see this baby taken out with our own eyes!”

The nurse nodded. “Understood.”

She was just about to head into the operating room when one of Gilbert’s men came rushing over in a panic. “Something’s wrong!”

Gilbert turned to him, frowning. “What’s the matter? Why are you so flustered?”

“Mr. Lane is here!”

Both Gilbert and Chelsea’s faces changed. “What did you say?! Who’s here?”

“Mr. Lane! He came in with a whole team. They’ve already locked down the hospital and are heading this way. They’ll be here any second!”

Chelsea’s heart jumped. “How did Shaun get here so fast? I thought he didn’t even know Halsey was pregnant yet!”

Gilbert’s eyes narrowed. “Don’t tell me he already found out!”

“For him to come charging in like this,” Chelsea quickly guessed, “he must’ve found out about the pregnancy!”

The man wiped the sweat from his forehead. “He’ll be here soon. We have to go now!”

Gilbert looked toward the operating room, frustrated. “Damn it! She hasn’t even gone through with the procedure, and Shaun’s already here!”

Chelsea was just as unwilling to give up. She didn’t know how Shaun found out so fast, but it was clear now that he knew about the baby.

Without hesitation, she said to Gilbert, “We need to get out of here.”

Gilbert clenched his fists. “But the baby-it’s still alive! After all the effort we put in, are we just gonna leave?”

Chelsea suddenly smirked, a wicked idea forming in her mind. “Who said we’re walking away empty-handed?”

Gilbert turned to her. “You have another plan?”

Chelsea glanced toward the nurse. “Go get the doctor out here.”

The doctor was quickly summoned from the operating room. “What can I do for you?”

Chelsea leaned in. “Shaun is about to show up. You know what to say, right?”

The doctor looked confused. “I-I’m not sure what you mean. Please tell me exactly, and I’ll say whatever you want.”

Chelsea’s tone sharpened. “Tell Shaun that Halsey didn’t want the baby. That she came here for an abortion by choice.”

The doctor froze.

Gilbert laughed, clearly impressed. He felt like he hadn’t misjudged Chelsea at all-this woman was dangerous.

“You heard her. Just say that Halsey didn’t want the baby. Say she came here willingly to end the pregnancy. Got it?”

The doctor quickly nodded. “Got it.”

Chelsea’s eyes narrowed in warning. “If you let Shaun find out the truth, your entire family’s done for.”
