Chapter 948
Chapter 948
The doctor quickly answered, “Mr. Lane, you arrived just in time. We haven’t started the surgery yet.”
Shaun looked at Halsey’s flat stomach. “Is the baby okay?”
The doctor nodded. “Everything’s normal. The baby’s healthy.”
“When will she wake up?”
“She’ll wake up after a bit of rest.”
Shaun bent down and gently lifted Halsey into his arms, carrying her out of the hospital.

Shaun brought Halsey back to his villa and laid her carefully on the soft bed. Then, he pulled the blanket over her.
Even though he was angry and disappointed, he didn’t do anything to her because she was carrying his child.
Shaun reached out and gently placed his hand over her belly. Inside, their child was growing-his blood, his legacy.
This was their baby.
His chest ached, but it was also full. Slowly, he leaned down and rested his head on her stomach, his voice low and tender. Don’t be scared, baby. Daddy’s here now.”

He loved this child deeply, more than words could say. He kissed her stomach and whispered, “It’s me, baby. I’m your dad.”
Even though the baby didn’t respond, Shaun’s lips curled into a faint smile. The feeling of becoming a father for the first time was something he would never forget.
He sat back up and looked at Halsey’s sleeping face. Reaching out, he gently brushed his fingers across her cheek.
He still didn’t understand why she had been so cruel.
It was one thing to hurt him, but why would she hurt their child too?
Was it because the baby was his?
Did she not want to give birth to his child?
Shaun’s voice was hoarse as he muttered to himself, “Halsey, what am I supposed to do with you…?”
Halsey felt like she had been asleep forever. In her dream, someone was holding her down on an operating table, trying to take her baby away.
Hot tears streamed down her cheeks. She suddenly jolted awake.
She sat up in bed and immediately reached for her belly. “The baby…the baby…”
A cold voice rang out. “The baby’s okay.”
Halsey looked up and saw Shaun standing by the floor-to-ceiling window.
He turned around, eyes dark and unreadable as he stared at her. He hadn’t slept all night, staying by her side. His eyes were bloodshot, his expression icy.
Halsey didn’t have time to process everything. She looked around, realizing she was in his bedroom.

She had no idea how she had gotten here.
The last thing she remembered was being in the hospital. Gilbert and Chelsea had brought a doctor, trying to take her baby.
Was her baby still alive?
