Gideon’s hand slid from my wrist to my waist, his fingers splaying against my side. He pulled me closer until my chest was touching his, our legs tangling together under the water as we treaded.
I heard Sebastian’s sharp intake of breath, and then he was right behind me, nearly touching me now.
I looked at him again. His eyes were dark and hungry, his jaw tight with jealousy and desire. He wanted me. They both did. That much was obvious. I could feel it in the way Sebastian’s fingertips brushed my hip, just barely, as if he didn’t even mean to, even though we both knew he had.
I could see in the way Gideon was glaring down at me from beneath his dark brows, watching me, waiting for me to make a decision that I never asked to make.
They were both waiting. Both watching. Both wanting me to choose one of them, as if I had ever said I would choose either.
It pissed me off.
My wolf stirred, pleased by the attention. “I would prefer our mate,” she said. “But both would be nice, don’t you think? Two Alphas, both obsessed with you—”
I stiffened, cheeks going aflame. “Don’t say that!”
“Why not? It’s not like it hasn’t crossed your mind before.”
“That’s the thing. It hasn’t.” Rolling my eyes, I pushed both men away and swam to the other side of the pool. I could feel them watching me as I climbed out of the water and began to gather my things.
Behind me, I heard Gideon say something to Sebastian. It was low and almost had a warning tone to it, and Sebastian shot something back a moment later. I didn’t really care to catch the words from either of them.
After I’d gotten dressed, which was a struggle with my skin being so wet and having no way to dry it off properly, I crouched down beside the pool and started gathering the Moonveil plants. They came up easily, roots and all, and I bundled them carefully in my hands, making sure not to harm them so I could transplant them later. I wanted to study them in their natural state, see if it would be possible to cultivate them for Bjorn’s medicine.
By the time I stood, Gideon and Sebastian were both out of the water, getting dressed in silence.

Why is Avery constantly projected as a weak, Gideon-centered female? It’s draining please I hope you can do better on your next lead female....
