The Heartless Alpha’s Beloved Luna (Avery and Gideon) novel Chapter 532

Avery’s POV

By the time I made it to Evergreen, my anger had turned from a small bud of confusion and hurt to an enormous, blooming corpse flower that blotted out everything, filling the car with its vile stench.

The same tired young guard lifted his hand, waving, a confused expression on his face as I sped through the gates and came skidding to a stop outside the main house, tires screeching in the quiet air.

“Where is he?” I shouted by way of greeting as Colt opened the front door.

Colt stared at me. “Avery? Are you okay?”

“Where. Is. He?”

Colt’s expression shifted. He stepped out of the way, gesturing for me to come in. I did, and he pointed at the stairs. “He’s in his room. HAsn’t come down all day.” I walked past, and he called after me, “He’s not doing well, Avery.”

“Neither am I,” I snarled, and kept walking.

I didn’t bother knocking on Sebastian’s door. I flung it open, not caring if I walked in on him naked or with a woman or any of it.

The smell hit me first. It was the kind of smell that came from a room being shut up tight for too long, the person within not leaving in just as long. The curtains were drawn tight and the air was thick with body odor and unwashed sheets.

Sebastian was sitting at his desk, his head in his hands, not doing anything—just sitting there, staring at the surface of the desk.

He looked up when I entered. His stubble had gotten longer. His eyes were dark and hollow. His hair was mussed and he was shirtless, wearing only a pair of dirty pajama pants.

“Sebastian.” I folded my arms. “We need to talk.”

Relief seemed to wash over him. He stood, turning to me, and smiled. “Avery. You came back.” HE opened his arms, starting to cross the room, but I stepped back and pointed a shaking finger at him.

“Don’t fucking touch me.”

Sebastian stopped, his arms still hovering out to the sides.
