The Heartless Alpha’s Beloved Luna (Avery and Gideon) novel Chapter 555

“She took it off?” I blurted out.

Gideon arched a brow. He didn’t answer.

“Let me see her—”

“She doesn’t want you, Sebastian,” he cut me off. “She never did, and you’ve hurt her enough for three lifetimes. If you come near her again, if I catch your scent within a mile of this place, I won’t be as polite as I’m being right now. Are we clear?”

I opened my mouth to argue, but the front door opened behind him, and the words died in my throat.

Avery stepped out onto the porch.

She came up beside Gideon and slid an arm around his waist, leaning into him. The smile she threw me was small, pleasant, perfectly ordinary. Her hair caught the light. She looked exactly like herself, exactly like the woman I’d known for months and wanted for myself the entire time.

And she wasn’t wearing the pendant.

But strangely, that wasn’t what I found myself focusing on. The bare patch of skin on her neck was nothing compared to the strange, overwhelming feeling I got when looking at her.

The thing was, I couldn’t explain what that feeling was. Something just felt… off. Like looking at a painting and swearing that the subject’s eyes are following you around the room. Uncanny.

“Patience, little wolf.”

I flinched at the sound of the voice in my mind. I recognized it as the witch immediately. Avery was still looking at me, smiling pleasantly while Gideon said something next to her, but I didn’t hear any of it.

“You’ll have her,” the witch said. “Just as I promised. Be a good boy and wait a little longer, and I’ll give her to you. Every. Last. Piece.”
