The Heiress’ Return: Six Brothers at Her Beck and Call (Wynter Quinnell) novel Chapter 1902

Curtis was taken aback for a moment. He glanced at the weapons in his subordinates' hands, then at the unarmed Wolf before sneering. "You just got lucky last time. Do you really think you're invincible?"

With that, he said to his subordinates, "You all have fun with him."

Then he walked toward a nearby chair.

Since Antoine wasn't here, Curtis figured he must have returned to the Chamberlain Group. After all, with Antoine's corporation currently under investigation, Curtis naturally had to check on things as the deputy mayor.

Now that Curtis had given the order not to let Wolf leave alive, the men showed no mercy. Raising their blades, they slashed at Wolf without hesitation.

Wolf merely smirked with mockery. Seeing the blade coming straight at him, he raised two fingers and effortlessly caught the weapon between them. The subordinate froze in shock. Despite straining with all his might, the blade remained immovable, as if locked in place.

With a light pinch of his fingers, Wolf snapped the blade in half.

Seeing this, the remaining subordinates charged at Wolf without hesitation. Wolf sighed before moving as light as the wind. He lifted his foot and stomped down with force, causing the men to instantly lose their balance, staggering uncontrollably.

Seizing the moment, Wolf swiftly disarmed them one by one at lightning speed. Within seconds, a pile of weapons clattered to the ground.

By the time they realized what had happened, it was already too late. They stared in stunned silence at their discarded blades, utterly bewildered.

Wolf slowly closed his eyes and leaned against the door. "Let's play hide-and-seek. You have 15 seconds to hide. I'll reward you with a beating if I find you!"

No sooner after he had spoken, Wolf began counting down.

The subordinates roared in fury, "Get him!"

Several of them charged at Wolf, but without even opening his eyes, he sent them flying backward with a mere flick of his wrist and a lift of his leg. "Five seconds left."

The others, terrified, scrambled to find hiding spots. Curtis, still dazed, remained seated in his chair.

"Five! Four! Three! Two! One! Time's up!"

Wolf opened his eyes.

The only one left in plain sight was Curtis.

Seeing that, Wolf grinned. "Then I'll start with you."

Meanwhile, Deven, who had helped Ingrid escape, stopped the car after confirming no one was chasing them.

Ingrid asked worriedly, "What about Wolf? Why didn't he get in the car with us?"

Deven shook his head. "I don't know. He just told me to pick you up at the front gate in half an hour."

Ingrid reached for the door handle, intending to go back for him, but Deven stopped her. "Ms. Chamberlain, they outnumber us. Going back would be like walking into a den of wolves."

Ingrid's concern was unmistakable. "Then what do we do? Are we supposed to just wait? What if Wolf gets hurt?"

Deven hesitated. "I've already called the police, but it'll take some time for them to arrive. I'll go check on him if you're really worried. You take the driver's seat. If things go wrong, get out of here immediately."

Ingrid could only nod reluctantly. "Alright... be careful."

Deven acknowledged with a nod and stepped out of the car, treading lightly toward the main gate.

His footsteps were nearly silent. As he approached the entrance, the warehouse remained eerily quiet. The unsettling silence made his chest tighten. If a fight had broken out, there should have been noise. But this was the kind of quiet that spelled danger.

Grimacing, he tightened his grip on the weapon at his waist. Once he stepped inside, there'd be no turning back. His only hope now was that Ingrid would make it back home safely.

Gritting his teeth, he slowly pushed open the door, bracing himself for a bloody confrontation.

What he saw, however, left him frozen in shock.

Wolf was lounging in a rocking chair, seemingly at ease, while the subordinates stood in two neat rows on either side, their faces bruised and swollen.

The worst off was Curtis, who lay crumpled on the ground. There was no blood, but he looked as if he might shatter at any moment.

Spotting Deven at the door, Wolf stood up. "Take him back to the car," he said, pointing at Curtis. "He might still be useful."

Deven hesitated for a second before stepping forward and hauling Curtis to his feet. The nearby subordinates didn't dare move a muscle.

Meanwhile, Wolf grabbed Lorcan, who had been standing to the side, and dragged him along as they left.

No one knew exactly what they had just experienced, but one thing was clear—Wolf was no ordinary kid. He could've ended them all without breaking a sweat.

Just as Wolf reached the door, he suddenly turned back and glanced at them. "It's been a while since I played hide-and-seek. You all should practice more. I'll come to play again next time."

With that, he walked away. On the other hand, the subordinates didn't even dare to breathe too loudly.

As they approached the car, Ingrid spotted Wolf and Deven returning through the rearview mirror and quickly stepped out. "Wolf, are you okay?"

Wolf looked up with a grin. "I'm fine, Ms. Ingrid. Those small fries couldn't do anything to me."

But despite his lighthearted tone, the situation was far from over. While things here had been resolved, the trouble at the Chamberlain Group didn't seem too optimistic.

Wolf's smile faded. "Ms. Ingrid, we need to go. There's probably trouble at Mr. Antoine's company. We should head there now."

Ingrid froze. "What's going on with my dad?"

No sooner had she spoken than her phone rang.

A stern voice came through the line. "Is this Ms. Ingrid Chamberlain?"

Ingrid replied, "Yes, it's me. Who is this?"

"This is the Organized Crime Department. Your father is under investigation for suspected ties to organized crime. We need you to come in for questioning."

Ingrid's expression darkened. "Understood. I'll be there soon."

After hanging up, she turned to Wolf. "We have a problem."

Wolf rubbed the tip of his nose, thinking for a moment. "Hmm, we can't go there directly. First, we need to report everything to the Public Integrity Department. Only after that can we proceed."

Ingrid furrowed her brows. "Alright, let's go there first."

Without another word, Deven hit the gas, speeding toward the Public Integrity Bureau as fast as possible.

Meanwhile, Antoine was escorted into a small interrogation room.

Two uniformed officers entered shortly after, carrying documents and written statements.

One of them looked at Antoine and said sternly, "Mr. Chamberlain, we need to further verify the organized crime allegations involving the Chamberlain Group. Did you provide assistance to such organizations?"

Antoine shook his head calmly. "No, I have never had any dealings with organized crime groups."

The second officer silently recorded their exchange.

The officer continued, "But one of your employees has already admitted his connection to you. He claims he saw you at a gang meeting and that you were secretly invited by the gang's leader."

Antoine's fingers stilled imperceptibly upon hearing this. Though innocent, he knew explanations would be pointless if someone had deliberately framed him.

After a pause, he raised his eyes with composed detachment. "I demand to see my lawyer. Until then, I won't be speaking further."
