ARIA’S POV
My blood ran completely cold as I stared at Julian.

He was actually standing inside my living room, looking around as if he had every right to be here.
The sheer audacity of this man made my head spin. I took a step back, my hands clenching into tight fists at my sides.
“What are you doing in my apartment, Julian?” I asked, my voice shaking with a dangerous mixture of fear and pure rage. “How did you even find out where I live?”
Julian did not answer me. He acted as if he hadn’t heard a single word I said. Instead of explaining himself, he walked past Brandon and me with slow, arrogant steps.
He walked straight over to my sofa and sat down, making himself completely at home. He took off his expensive winter coat, draped it casually over the armrest, and crossed one leg over the other.
Every single movement was designed to show me that he had no intention of leaving anytime soon.
Beside me, I could feel the heat radiating off Brandon.
He was absolutely seething with fury. His jaw was clenched so tightly that a muscle jumped in his cheek, and his knuckles turned white as he balled his hands into fists.
Julian hadn’t just invaded my home; he had brutally interrupted a deeply private, vulnerable moment between us. Brandon looked like a bomb that was just seconds away from exploding.
“Get out,” I told Julian, my voice dropping to a harsh whisper. I pointed a trembling finger toward the open front door. “You have to leave this house right now.”
Julian just looked up at me with a calm, smug expression that made me want to slap him all over again. He didn’t move an inch.
Brandon couldn’t take it anymore. With a low growl, he stepped forward, his entire body rigid and ready to charge at Julian. He looked like he was about to rip Julian to pieces right there on my living room rug.
“Brandon, no! Stop!” I cried out, quickly jumping right in between them. I placed both of my palms flat against Brandon’s broad chest, feeling the wild, rapid pounding of his heart.
I looked up into his angry eyes, silently begging him with my gaze “Please, Brandon. You have to trust me on this. Leave right now so I can handle Julian myself. I need you to go.”
Brandon stared down at me, his eyes wild with frustration and deep hurt. He didn’t want to leave me alone with Julian, and he was still stinging from the words I had thrown at him just moments before.
But before he could argue, his phone suddenly started ringing loudly in his pocket.

He pulled it out, glanced at the screen, and let out a frustrated breath. He looked back at me, his expression tight. “I have a meeting I need to get to,” he said, his voice deep and rough with lingering anger.
He looked past my shoulder, giving Julian a deadly, murderous look, and then looked back down at me. “If he touches you, if he even breathes too loudly, you call me immediately. I mean it, Aria.”
He didn’t want to go, but between the meeting and my plea for him to trust me, he reluctantly turned around. He walked out of the apartment, slamming the front door behind him so hard that the glass windows rattled in their frames.
The moment the door closed, the heavy silence returned, leaving me alone with the man who had ruined my life five years ago.
All the fear inside me suddenly evaporated, leaving behind nothing but pure, unadulterated fury. I turned around and charged at Julian, stopping right in front of the couch.
“I am going to ask you one more time, and you better answer me,” I hissed, my voice shaking with rage. “What are you doing in my apartment, Julian? How did you find my place?”
Julian sighed softly and looked up at me. “Your apartment was not difficult to find, Aria. A woman with your name running a successful business isn’t exactly invisible. I have my ways.”
He stood up from the couch slowly, closing the distance between us. “Look, I heard what you were just saying to Brandon. You don’t need him, Aria. He leaves you when things get tough. I am ready to make things right between us. I know I messed up back then, and I am here to fix it.”
A bitter, unbelieving laugh forced its way out of my throat. I felt like I was losing my mind. “You want to make things right? You think you can just walk in here after five whole years and make decisions for me? What gave you the right to think you can just slide back into my life?”
My voice rose, the tears finally spilling over my eyelashes. “And to make things even worse, you were part of the monsters who tried to steal my father’s company from me. You helped try to take away his legacy!”
When I mentioned the company, Julian’s face changed. The smug, relaxed look vanished, replaced by a sudden flash of panic. He realized that things had gotten incredibly serious.
He took a hasty step toward me, his hands raised in front of him. “Aria, no, you have it all wrong,” he said quickly, his voice sounding desperate.
“I was never part of that plot to ruin your family. I swear to you, I was never really interested in your father’s company from the very start. I didn’t even care about it.”
“Don’t lie to me!” I screamed in a harsh whisper.
“I’m not lying!” Julian insisted, shaking his head. “At first, when my father started making moves, I truly didn’t know the company belonged to your dad. But the exact moment I found out the truth, I tried to stop him. I didn’t tell you anything back then because my father is a dangerous, ruthless man. I was trying to protect you from him, Aria. I kept you in the dark to keep you safe.”
I stared at him, feeling a wave of deep disgust. I wasn’t buying a single word of his explanation. It was just another beautiful lie from a man who excelled at telling them.
