Chapter 170

Chapter 170

ARIA’S POV

A few days later, a small weight was lifted off my shoulders. My executive office had finally been completely redecorated exactly like I had requested..

The dirty, soiled energy from Fred and his secretary was entirely gone, replaced by fresh paint, a sleek modern couch, and a brand-new polished desk.

To make things even better, I had officially promoted a young junior employee with an impeccable work record named Chloe to be my new personal secretary.

Chloe was organized, quiet, and highly professional. She was the exact opposite of the chaotic staff I had encountered on my first day.

Unfortunately, the beautiful office didn’t change the fact that I was drowning in difficulties at work.

The corporate world was a completely different beast, and deep down, I knew I desperately needed someone to put me through the daily operations and teach me the ropes.

But the absolute last person I wanted to contact for help was Fred, the previous acting CEO. I briefly thought about asking the office manager for a few quick tips, but I immediately threw that idea out the window.

He was exactly the type of guy to overstep his boundaries and think I was inviting him to flirt again. I also didn’t want to constantly disturb Brandon.

He had his own massive company to worry about, and I didn’t want to seem incompetent or needy.

Besides, Brandon was already doing so much for me outside of work.

He had finally met with Amelia a few days back, and seeing the pure, unadulterated joy on my daughter’s face when they played together was more than enough for me.

I wanted to handle my father’s empire on my own two feet.

But my lack of experience caught up to me sooner than I expected. During a critical board meeting later that afternoon, I found myself completely cornered.

The older board members bombarded me with heavy financial questions, complex structural issues, and market projections. My head began to spin, and confusion set in.

I stood there at the head of the long table, my mouth slightly open, completely stuck on what response to give.

Just as the silence in the room was becoming painfully embarrassing, a young, sharp member of the board named David stepped in.

With total confidence, David smoothly took the microphone, answered the aggressive questions perfectly, and completely saved the day for me.

Once the meeting adjourned and the other board members filed out, I let out a massive breath and walked over to him.”

r David, thank you so much for the help back there. I honestly didn’t know what to say.”

David offered me a warm, reassuring smile, picking up his tablet. “It was nothing, Miss Aria. We all start somewhere, and your father was a great man. I’m happy to help.”

He didn’t just leave it at that, either.

David spent the next hour sitting down with me in my new office, patiently helping me fill the various corporate loopholes, explaining the budget sheets, and teaching me a few complicated things I was finding extremely difficult to grasp.

He was clear, patient, and made me feel heard. After ensuring I finally understood everything, he politely took his leave. Later that evening, I was casually having a phone discussion with Brandon while unwinding on my living room couch. As we talked about how our days went, I casually mentioned how David had rescued me during the board meeting. Brandon’s tone shifted instantly, turning noticeably quiet and stiff. “Why didn’t you just call me instead, Aria? I could have walked you through the board meeting files.”

“I just didn’t want to worry you or add to your stress, Brandon,” I explained gently, trying to soothe his sudden jealousy. “You have your own corporate empire to run. Plus, David is practically harmless. He’s just a young board member helping his new CEO.”

Brandon paused for a long moment before letting out a tight breath. “Okay. Just remember that I am your boyfriend, Aria. I will always help you with anything you need. You don’t have to look outside.”

“I know, Brandon know, and I appreciate you,” I said softly

n stear his mind away from David, I quickly changed the tupin “So, tell me about the family wedding you attended. How

-did it go?

“It went well,” Brandon sand spoothly. He paused briefly, like he wanted to say something but was debating it and then continued, “It was a beautiful ceremony. But honestly, it would have been much better if you had accompanied me as my

date.”

I sighed quietly, rubbing my temples “Brandon, we talked about this. It is much better for me to stay low in the meantime. The paparazzi are constantly hovering around my office and my house just waiting to get any drop of new information about my personal life. I really don’t want to keep feeding them headlines, especially after that hotel mess.”

I heard Brandon sigh heavily on the other end of the line, his disappointment loud and clear. “Aria, do you want to keep our relationship a complete secret forever?”

“No, of course not,” I answered, but my voice lacked the certainty he wanted to hear “But right now, I just want to focus all my energy on stabilizing the company. That has to be my priority.”

I knew my response hurt him, but it was the only honest answer I could offer him right now. My life was moving at a thousand miles per hour, and I was just trying to keep my head above water
