ARIA’S POV

I sat there staring at the two packages on my table for a long moment. I finally pushed my laptop aside, reached out, and picked up the first elegant card.

I opened it and read the neat handwriting inside. It was from Brandon. A soft smile touched my lips. He was inviting me to a private dinner tonight, clearly trying to fix things after our tense conversation the other day.

Then, my eyes moved to the second package. I picked up the card, feeling very curious. I opened the envelope, and the moment I saw the signature at the bottom, my jaw dropped.

It was from David.

I blinked, completely confused. David was just a business associate. Why on earth would he send me a romantic dinner invitation and a bouquet of flowers without any prior notice? We had never crossed that line before.

Before I could even think about what to do next, a knock came at my door. It opened, and David himself walked right into my office. He was wearing a sharp suit and had a massive smile on his face.

He looked completely confident, clearly thinking I would be glad he asked me out and deeply appreciate the gesture. “Good afternoon, Aria,” David said, his voice warm as he walked over to my desk. “I see you got my package. I hoped I could surprise you.”

I felt incredibly awkward. I stood up from my chair, offering him a polite but tight smile. “David, the flowers are beautiful, thank you. But I have to be completely honest with you. I have to turn down the invite.”

The smile on David’s face faltered slightly. “Oh? Are you busy tonight?”

“It’s not just tonight, David,” I explained as gently and politely as possible. “The truth is, I have a boyfriend now. We are in a serious relationship, and I really wouldn’t want to disrespect him by going out on a dinner date with another man.”

David’s face fell, a look of shock and disappointment crossing his features. “A boyfriend? Since when-”

He didn’t even get to finish his question. Right at that exact moment, the office door swung open again. Coincidentally, Brandon walked straight into the room.

He didn’t have to ask what was happening. His sharp eyes instantly took in the two bouquets of flowers on my table and the disappointed look on David’s face.

Brandon’s gaze turned cold, and he immediately decided to create a scene to claim his territory.

Instead of staying by the door, Brandon walked right over to me with a smug, proud smile. He didn’t say a word to David. Instead, he smoothly wrapped his large, strong hands around my waist, pulling my back flush against his chest protectively.

Before I could even protest, he leaned down and pressed a firm, slow peck against my cheek. “Hey, beautiful,” Brandon murmured loudly, his voice dripping with possessiveness as he kept his arms locked around me. “I hope I’m not interrupting anything.”

David’s face flushed a deep, angry red. He looked at Brandon’s hands on my waist, then looked at me, his chest heaving with embarrassment and rage. He realized right then that he had absolutely no chance.

“No,” David said through gritted teeth, his voice shaking. “You aren’t interrupting a thing. I was just leaving.”

Without another word. David turned on his heel and stormed out of my office, slamming the door heavily behind him.

The moment the door shut, I immediately pulled away from Brandon’s grip and turned around to face him, crossing my arms Brandon, seriously? That was so incredibly petty of you to pull a move like that.”

Brandon just chuckled, completely unfazed by my anger. He shrugged his broad shoulders, looking quite proud of himself. “I told you, Aria. I don’t like other guys hovering around what’s mine. He needed to know his place.”

I rolled my eyes, but I couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at my lips. I was angry, but deep down, seeing him claim me like that sent a little thrill through my heart.

“Whatever,” I muttered, walking back to my desk. “Since you’re here and you already ruined my afternoon, you can help me pack my stuff.”

“With pleasure,” Brandon smiled. He walked over, carefully helping me close my files and pack my documents into my bag. Once everything was set, I left the office in Chloe’s hands and went straight home to prepare for our actual date.

When I got to the house, the quiet atmosphere helped me relax. I took a warm shower and picked out a beautiful, elegant dress that hugged my curves perfectly. I did my makeup lightly, letting my hair fall softly over my shoulders.

Before leaving the house, I walked into the living room and found my housekeeper. “Mary, please I’m pleading with you to watch over Amelia closely tonight. I might be back a bit late.”

“Of course, Miss Aria. Don’t worry at all,” Mary smiled. Amelia, who was sitting on the rug playing with her dolls, innocently looked

up at me. Her eyes scanned my fancy dress and my done-up hair.

“Mommy, you look so pretty. Are you going out to see my daddy?”

My breath caught in my throat. I let out a soft, sad sigh, kneeling down to touch her cheek. “No, sweetie. Not tonight. Mommy is going out to see a friend.”

I felt a pang of guilt in my chest. The truth was, I just didn’t know how to tell Amelia that Brandon and I were romantically involved just yet. She was still so attached to the idea of her father, and I didn’t want to confuse her or break her heart before things were completely solid.

I kissed her forehead, said goodbye, and walked out to the car Brandon had sent for me. The driver took me to a five-star luxury hotel downtown.

We took the elevator all the way up, and when the doors opened, I realized the date was on the breathtaking rooftop of the restaurant. The view of the city lights was stunning.

Brandon was already standing there, waiting for me. The moment he turned around, my heart skipped a beat He looked and smelled so incredibly good. He was wearing a perfectly fitted dark suit, and his cologne filled the crisp night air.

“You look absolutely breathtaking, Aria,” he whispered, his eyes locking onto mine. He walked me over to a beautifully set table right near the edge of the rooftop.

He politely pulled out the chair for me, waiting until I sat down before taking his own seat across from me. When the waiter brought the menus, Brandon smoothly handed it over to me.

He made me choose the entire meal we would be having, letting me pick all my favorite dishes.

Throughout the entire evening, Brandon didn’t stop staring at me.

His dark eyes were filled with so much intense admiration and affection that I found myself blushing all through the dinner.

I couldn’t even look him in the eye for too long without my cheeks turning bright red.

As I looked around, I realized something wonderful. “Did you rent out this entire place?” Lasked softly.

did, Brandon smiled, reaching across the table to gently squeeze my hand. “I know you wanted to keep things low-key and safe from the media right now.”

I let out a breath of pure relief I was so glad the rooftop was completely empty. There were no flashing cameras, no paparazzi, and no nosy journalists hiding in the corners.

It was just the both of them, having a genuinely good time, laughing and talking about everything.

After we finished our delicious meal and shared a light dessert, the night began to wind down.

Brandon stood up, walking around the table to offer me his hand. “Let me drive you home tonight. My driver can take the other car home.”
