Chapter 44
Chapter 44
ARIA’S POV
The kiss didn’t end when I expected it to.
It deepened.

What started as something controlled… something almost careful quickly turned into something else entirely. His hands moved, firm and certain, like he knew exactly where to touch, where to hold, where to keep me from pulling away.
And I didn’t stop him.
My fingers tightened in his shirt as I leaned into him, my breathing growing uneven, my thoughts slipping further and further out of reach. It felt like everything around us had faded away.
There was no room. No walls. No tension from earlier. Just him. Just us.
By the time I finally pulled away, my chest was rising and falling like I had just run miles without stopping. My lips tingled, swollen from the intensity of it, and for a moment… I couldn’t even find my voice.
Julian, on the other hand, looked completely unaffected. Calm. Collected. Satisfied. That smug look on his face made my brows pull together slightly. “You-”
I didn’t get to finish.
His index finger pressed lightly against my lips, stopping me mid-sentence. My breath hitched at the contact as my eyes lifted to meet his.
“Don’t,” he murmured.
My heart skipped. There was something in his tone… something that made my stomach flip in a way I didn’t understand. Instead of arguing, I stayed quiet.
And then, just like that, he shifted the moment again. “I want you to come somewhere with me tonight.”
Confusion replaced everything else almost instantly. My brows furrowed. “Where?”
“You’ll see.” That didn’t help.
“At night?” I pressed, studying him carefully. “Julian, where are you taking me?”
He didn’t answer. Just that same look. That same calm certainty like everything was already decided.
And for some reason, I didn’t push. I just trusted him.
“Do I need a jacket?” I asked and he nodded.
“Yes, get changed and then we’ll go.

“Okay.” I tried to move away from his lap but his grip was still firm. When I looked at him, he had that subtle grin on his face and I knew he was enjoying this more than ever.
“Let me go. You said I needed to change.” I whispered. After a long moment, his grip loosened and I bolted away from him, hearing his contagious laugh behind me.
When I got to my room, I breathed in slowly, my heart racing with a million thoughts. Julian and I have done nothing but kiss and somehow, that was all it took for me to cave.
By the time I finished getting ready and headed out, he was already dressed. He held out his hand and I took it gently as he gave me a small squeeze. I realized I felt safe with Julian and that alone was enough.
The air was colder than I expected,
The moment we stepped out of the car, I wrapped my arms around myself slightly, my eyes scanning the massive structure in front of me.
Then it clicked. The city hockey rink.
My eyes widened slightly as we stepped inside. Bright lights illuminated the entire place, reflecting off the smooth ice in a way that made everything look almost surreal.
But something felt… off. The place was too quiet and too empty. There was no one there. No players. No staff. No noise. Just us.
I turned to Julian, my confusion obvious. “Why is it empty?”
He stepped forward onto the ice like he belonged there. Like it was his. A small smirk tugged at his lips as he glanced back at me. “Because I made it that way.”
I blinked. “… You did what?”
He didn’t repeat himself. He didn’t need to. And suddenly, it hit me. This wasn’t just any rink. This was the city’s main rink. The biggest one. And he had it cleared out… just because he wanted to use it.
A quiet scoff left my lips as I folded my arms slightly, watching him glide further across the ice like it was nothing.
Of course. Julian. Always reminding the world who he was without even trying. I stayed where I was at first, standing by the edge, my eyes following his movements.
And for a moment… I forgot everything else. He moved effortlessly. Smooth. Controlled.
Every glide, every turn, every shift of his body looked so natural it was almost unreal. Like the ice responded to him. Like it bent to his will.
I swallowed slightly, my gaze softening without meaning to. Maybe that’s why I didn’t notice it immediately. The shift. The stumble. Julian was about to fall.
My heart jumped. “Julian…” Without thinking, I stepped onto the ice, rushing toward him as he seemed to lose his balance. “Careful…”

I didn’t even finish the sentence. Because the moment I got close enough, his hand shot out.
Gripping my waist. Pulling me straight into him.
