Chapter 50
Chapter 50
ARIA’S POV
I wasn’t expecting that. Not even close.

If anything, I had braced myself for the opposite. For him to step back. To deny it. To brush it off like it meant nothing.
Because that’s what made sense. That’s what someone like him would do. But Julian didn’t. He kissed me.
Not just a quick, dismissive peck to silence the questions. No. It was deliberate. Deep.
Possessive. And he didn’t stop.
Gasps rippled through the crowd around us, cameras flashing wildly, voices overlapping in a frenzy but none of it seemed to matter to him.
His hand tightened at my waist, pulling me closer, closer still until I barely had space to breathe.
“Julian…” I tried to speak against his lips, but the words came out broken. He didn’t listen. Or maybe he just didn’t care.
The next thing I knew, I was being lifted, my breath catching sharply as he pulled me onto his lap like it was the most natural thing in the world.
My heart was racing so fast it hurt.
My fingers clutched at his suit, my body reacting before my mind could catch up. The kiss deepened again, stealing whatever breath I had left until I was dizzy with it.
By the time he finally pulled back, I was completely out of it. My lips tingled.
My chest heaved. And my cheeks-God.
They burned. I couldn’t even look at anyone.
Couldn’t face the crowd. The cameras. The whispers. So I did the only thing I could.
I buried my face in his chest. Hiding. Trying to disappear. A low breath left him, and this time, he seemed to notice.
“Hey,” he murmured, his hand sliding up my back in a slow, grounding motion.
But I couldn’t respond. I was too aware. Too exposed. Too overwhelmed. And just like that, everything shifted again.
Before I could even process it, he stood, lifting me with him effortlessly. “What are you-” I started, my voice still shaky.

But he didn’t answer. He just carried me.
Straight out of the event.
I caught glimpses as we passed, people staring, whispering, watching. And just before we stepped out completely, my eyes flickered back.
Leonie. And his mother. Both watching us. Both furious. But Julian didn’t look back. Not even once.
The cool night air hit my skin, but it didn’t do much to calm the heat still rushing through me.
He didn’t set me down until we reached the car.
Even then, his hands lingered for a second longer than necessary. Neither of us spoke immediately.
The silence felt… heavy. Charged. We were both slightly off, maybe from the drinks, maybe from everything that had just happened.
Maybe from each other. I swallowed, finally finding my voice. “Why did you do that?”
He didn’t answer. Instead, his hand came up again, tilting my chin slightly. And then, he kissed me. Again.
Softer this time. But no less intentional. “Julian…” I whispered against his lips, my brows pulling together.
Still no answer. Just that same silence. That same intensity. And then he pulled away, like nothing had happened, moving to the driver’s side.
The engine started. And we drove home.
The moment we stepped inside, it started again.
Like the tension we had left behind at the event followed us home and crashed into us all at once.
His hands found me. My back hit the wall. My breath caught. “Julian-” But he was already kissing me again.
Slower this time. Deeper. Like he was trying to prove something. Or maybe forget something.
I didn’t know. And for a moment… I let it happen.
I kissed him back. Because despite everything, despite the confusion, the frustration, the unanswered questions, I wanted him.
God help me, I did. But then, it hit me. Leonie. The way she looked at him. The way he looked at her. The way he didn’t push her away.
My hands pressed against his chest, stopping him. “Wait.”
He stilled. His breathing was uneven. His gaze was dark. “What?” he murmured.
I shook my head slightly, trying to steady myself. “Why did you do that?”

A pause. Then. “I already told you,” he said.
“No,” I replied quickly, my voice firmer now. “You didn’t.” Silence stretched between us. “Was that real?” I asked, my eyes searching his. “Or was it just to prove a point?”
His expression didn’t change. “To who?” he asked.
“To her,” I snapped. “To Leonie.”
Something flickered in his eyes. Brief. Gone just as quickly. “That’s what this is about?” he asked, his tone shifting slightly.
“Yes,” I said, my chest tightening. “Because you stood there and let her…”
“She didn’t matter.”
“She did!” I cut in. “You let her talk to me like I was nothing, Julian!”
His jaw tightened. “And then suddenly you’re kissing me in front of everyone?” I continued, my voice rising. “What am I supposed to think?”
“That you’re overthinking it,” he said flatly.
I stared at him. “…. Are you serious right now?”
“You’re making it bigger than it is.”
A short, incredulous laugh left me. “Bigger than it is?”
“Yes.”
“Then explain it!” I snapped. “Tell me why you did it!”
He didn’t answer. Just stared at me. And that made something inside me crack.
“Did you do it because you care?” I asked, my voice softer now. “Or was it just to make her jealous?”
Silence.
A long, heavy silence. And in that silence…I got my answer. My chest tightened painfully.
“Wow,” I whispered.
“That’s not what this is,” he said finally, his tone colder now.
“Then what is it?” I shot back.
“You’re acting ridiculous.”
My breath hitched. “Excuse me?”
