Chapter 66

Chapter 66

ARIA’S POV

My hands wouldn’t stop shaking.

The paper crinkled slightly between my fingers as I held onto it like it was the only thing keeping me grounded.

Pregnant. Six weeks. I still couldn’t wrap my head around it. By the time I got back to my room, my legs felt weak again, but this time it wasn’t from dizziness.

It was from everything crashing down at once.

I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the test result in my hand.

“What am I going to do?” I whispered. Telling Julian didn’t feel like an option. Not after the way things ended. Not after the silence. Not after the look in his eyes.

I squeezed my eyes shut, exhaling shakily. No. He didn’t care anymore. Why would he care about this? Still, my fingers moved on their own, dialing the only person I could think of.

Elena. She picked up almost immediately. “Aria? Are you okay?” I didn’t answer right away.

Because how did I even say it? “I’m pregnant.” There was silence. Dead silence.

Then, she spoke. “What?!” she nearly yelled.

I winced slightly. “Keep your voice down…”

“Aria, are you serious right now?!” she demanded.

“I just came back from the hospital,” I said weakly. “Six weeks.”

Another pause. Then she exhaled sharply. “Oh my God…”

“I don’t even know how to feel,” I admitted, my voice breaking slightly.

“Well, first of all,” she started, her tone shifting, “what were you thinking having unprotected sex with someone like Julian?”

I flinched.

“I wasn’t thinking,” I whispered.

“Clearly,” she muttered.

But then her tone softened slightly. “Okay… okay. We’ll figure this out.”

“How?” I asked helplessly.

She hesitated. “You could… you know… not keep it.”

My grip on the paper tightened instantly. “No.”

The answer came out faster than I expected. Stronger too. “No,” I repeated, shaking my head even though she couldn’t see me.

“Aria…”

“I said no,” I cut in, my voice trembling now. “I’m not doing that.”

Silence stretched between us. “Okay,” she said finally. “Then you need to be realistic.”

My chest tightened. “You can’t do this alone,” she continued gently. “You just graduated. You don’t have a job. Your savings are almost gone…”

I closed my eyes. Every word hit exactly where it hurt. “You need to tell him,” she finished.

Julian. The name alone made my heart twist painfully. “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” I admitted.

“It’s the only idea,” she replied firmly. “Whether you like it or not, he deserves to know.” I swallowed hard. “And you deserve support,” she added.

Support. From him? I wasn’t so sure. But deep down, I knew she was right. A long silence passed before I nodded to myself.

“Okay.”

I ended the call shortly after, staring at my phone for a few seconds before finally standing up.

This was it. I had to do this. For me. For the baby. My hands were still shaking when I left the hotel and headed straight to the apartment.

But when I got there, it was empty. My heart sank slightly. Of course. I pulled out my phone and hesitated for a moment before typing.

We need to talk.

A few seconds passed. Then my phone buzzed. My breath caught as I opened the message.

Come to the manor.

That was it. No questions. No concern. Just instructions. My stomach twisted uneasily.

His parents. Mrs. Vance.

The last time I saw her…I clenched my jaw.

“I don’t have a choice,” I muttered. And I didn’t. So I went.

The Vance manor was just as intimidating as I remembered. Huge. Elegant. Cold. Everything about it

screamed power. And everything about it made me feel like I didn’t belong.

I took a deep breath before stepping inside.

The door hadn’t even fully closed behind me when I heard her voice.

“Aria.” I froze. Slowly, I turned. Mrs. Vance. Of course. She stood there, composed as ever, like she had been expecting me.

My grip tightened around the envelope in my hand. “I’m here to see Julian,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

Her lips curved slightly. Not quite a smile. “I know.” Something about that made my chest tighten. “Come with me,” she said, already turning.

I hesitated for half a second. Then followed. Each step felt heavier than the last as she led me down the hallway.

Closer. Closer. Until we stopped in front of a door. My heart started pounding. “He’s inside,” she said calmly.

I nodded slowly. But just as I was about to reach for the handle, I heard it. A soft sound. Then another. A woman’s voice.

Breathy. Familiar. “Julian…” My blood ran cold. Leonie. My heart dropped so fast it felt like it shattered on impact.

No. No, no, no…

My chest tightened painfully as the sounds continued, each one hitting me harder than the last.

He brought me here for this? My vision blurred instantly as tears filled my eyes. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think.

I couldn’t speak. I just turned away quickly.

Because I couldn’t stand there and listen to that. I wouldn’t.

My hand tightened around the envelope as I tried to walk away, blinking back the tears.

But before I could get far, a hand grabbed my wrist firmly. I gasped softly, turning back in shock. Mrs. Vance. Her gaze dropped to the envelope in my hand.
