ARIA’S POV

The woman continued, her voice steady but gentle. “I am a healthcare practitioner, dear. From your appearance, I can tell you are pregnant.”

My breath caught. She offered me a small, apologetic smile. “I’m sorry for how she treated you.”

My eyes flicked back to Serena instantly.

But the woman didn’t wait for a response. She gave a small nod and walked away like nothing had happened.

Like she hadn’t just exposed my biggest secret in the middle of the street. And just like that, it was only me and Serena again.

The silence that followed felt heavy. Dangerous. Serena stared at me for a long moment. Then her lips curled. Slowly. Deliberately.

“Oh wow,” she murmured. “So it’s true.”

My stomach dropped. I pushed myself up from the ground, wincing as pain shot through my palms. “Don’t,” I said quietly.

But she stepped closer anyway. “So you’re pregnant,” she repeated, like she was tasting the words. “Julian’s little miracle, huh?”

My chest tightened. “Leave me alone.”

Instead, she laughed. A sharp, ugly sound. “Oh this is rich,” she said, shaking her head. “You really thought you could win, didn’t you?”

I froze. Her eyes gleamed with something cruel.

“I should send this to the blogs,” she continued casually. “Imagine the headlines. ‘Poor little Aria traps billionaire heir with a baby.”

My blood ran cold. “No…” I whispered.

She tilted her head. “Or better yet… I could just send it directly to Mrs. Vance.”

My heart dropped so hard it felt like it cracked.

“Please don’t do this,” I said, my voice shaking now.

Her smile widened. “Why not?” she asked innocently. “You already lost him anyway.”

Something inside me snapped. Not anger.

Fear. Pure, suffocating fear. I couldn’t stay there. Not another second.

Without another word, I turned and walked away quickly, my steps uneven, heart pounding violently in my

chest.

Behind me, I could still hear her laugh fading into the distance. By the time I reached a quiet street corner, my legs gave out slightly.

I leaned against a wall, gasping. My baby. My secret. Exposed. I pressed a hand over my stomach, tears burning my eyes. “No… no, no, no…” I whispered.

I had to get out of there. Now. I didn’t even remember how I got back to the apartment.

All I knew was that I shut the door, locked it twice, and slid down against it, shaking.

My phone buzzed again and again in my bag, but I ignored it. Until I couldn’t. I reached for it with trembling hands and called Elena.

She picked up instantly. “Aria?” My voice broke the second I heard her.

“She knows,” I whispered. Silence.

Then, “What?!”

“Serena,” I said, swallowing hard. “She knows I’m pregnant. Elena, she saw everything… she’s going to tell people, I know she is, I-”

“Hey, hey,” Elena cut in firmly. “Breathe. Slow down.” I tried. I really did. But my chest felt like it was collapsing.

“She didn’t post anything yet,” I added quickly. “But she will. I know she will.”

Elena sighed. “Aria… listen to me.”

“I’m serious,” I said, pacing now. “She’s going to ruin everything. Julian, his mother, everyone…”

“Aria.” Her voice sharpened slightly. “Has anything been posted yet?”

I froze. “No.”

“Then calm down.” I let out a shaky breath.

“Elena, she knows. That’s enough. She’ll leak it anytime.” There was a pause. Then Elena said something that made me stop completely.

“If she wanted it public, it would already be everywhere.” I blinked.

“What?”

“She’s rich, Aria. Vindictive. If she wanted headlines, you’d already be trending.”

My grip tightened on the phone. “So why hasn’t she done it?” Silence. Then softly, Elena sighed. I sank onto my bed slowly.

“What does that even mean?” I whispered.

Elena hesitated. “It means she has another plan.” That didn’t make me feel better. Not even a little. The next morning came with no headlines.

No leaks. No chaos. Just silence. And it scared me more than anything Serena had said. I kept checking my phone obsessively.

Nothing. No blogs. No gossip pages. No scandals.

By afternoon, I started convincing myself maybe Elena was right. Maybe Serena was just trying to scare me.

My phone buzzed. My heart jumped so violently I almost dropped it. A notification. Breaking News. My fingers trembled as I opened it.

And my entire world stopped.

“SERENA CONFIRMED PREGNANT. HEIRESS EXPECTING CHILD WITH LUCA MORETTI”

I stared. Once. Twice. No. My breath caught painfully. That couldn’t be right. I refreshed the page. Same headline. Different sites. More updates.

More confirmations. My knees weakened slightly. “What…?” I whispered. I clicked another article. Photos.

Serena. Smiling. Holding her stomach slightly.

Luca beside her. Hand on her waist. Looking very calm. Like this was real. Like this had always been real.

My phone slipped slightly in my hand. No. No, no, no. This didn’t make sense. Just yesterday she was outside the building.

She didn’t look pregnant. She didn’t act pregnant. So why…how was she pregnant? My mind spiraled.

And then it hit me. This was planned. She wanted this to go viral. But why? My chest tightened painfully. I called Elena again.

“She did it,” I whispered immediately.

“What?” Elena asked.

“She made it public,” I said, pacing again. “But not about me.”

Silence. Then, she asked, “About what?”

My throat tightened. “Luca,” I said. “She’s pregnant with Luca’s baby.”

Another pause. Then Elena cursed under her breath. “Oh
