Chapter 73

Chapter 73

ARIA’S POV

The days after Serena’s visit passed more quietly than I expected.

Too quietly.

At first, I kept waiting for something bad to happen. Every morning I walked into work expecting another disaster, another humiliation, another trap set by her. But nothing came.

There were no strange calls. No confrontations. No sabotage. And slowly, I began to breathe again.

I focused on my work, arriving early every day, keeping my head down, doing everything exactly as I was told. I smiled at guests, handled bookings, answered calls and tried my best to prove I deserved to be there.

I needed this job. More than ever now. With every passing day, my stomach grew a little tighter, my nausea worsened a little more and reality settled deeper into my bones.

There was a baby depending on me. So I couldn’t afford mistakes. And for a while, things actually seemed okay.

Until one morning. The moment I stepped into the hotel lobby, something felt off. My brows furrowed immediately.

People were staring. Not directly. But enough for me to notice. Whispers filled the air around me, low murmurs that stopped every time I looked up.

I froze slightly, confusion creeping in. What the hell was going on? Trying to ignore it, I walked behind the desk and began setting up for the morning shift.

But the whispering didn’t stop. If anything, it got worse.

I could feel eyes on me from every direction. The staff passing by kept glancing my way. Some looked disgusted. Others looked amused.

My chest tightened. What was going on? Then barely twenty minutes into my shift, one of the assistants approached me nervously.

“Aria… the manager wants to see you.”

My stomach dropped. Again? I swallowed hard and nodded before making my way upstairs.

When I entered his office, Mr. Halden was seated behind his desk, his expression darker than I had ever seen it.

He didn’t even tell me to sit. He just stared at me and then I saw the disappointment dripping from every inch of his face.

“Sir?” I asked cautiously.

He leaned back in his chair slowly. “You’ve messed up big time, Aria.”

My brows furrowed instantly. “I’m sorry?”

His jaw tightened. “Don’t play dumb with me.”

Confusion flooded me. “Sir, I don’t understand what you mean.”

He laughed bitterly. “You are still pretending?”

My heart began racing. “Pretending what?”

He slammed his palm against the desk suddenly, making me flinch. “Stop acting innocent!”

My breath caught.

“The hotel owners will find out soon enough,” he spat. “And when they do, they’ll want you gone immediately.”

I stared at him, panic rising fast. “Sir, I genuinely don’t know what you’re talking about.”

He narrowed his eyes at me before standing slowly. Then he walked around the desk. My heart pounded harder.

“If you cooperate,” he said slowly, stepping closer, “maybe I can help make this disappear.”

My stomach twisted. “Cooperate?” He smirked.

Then leaned close.

“If you give yourself to me the way you did to the man in that video…” he murmured, “I may consider covering your tracks.”

My blood ran cold. “What video?” I whispered.

But before I could process anything, he grabbed my waist. I gasped sharply. My entire body froze in horror.

He yanked me closer, gripping me tightly as his disgusting breath hit my face. “I never knew pregnant women could be so damn flexible,” he muttered darkly.

Panic exploded through me. “Let go of me!” I screamed, trying to shove him off.

But he only gripped tighter. “You little slut,” he hissed. “Don’t act shy now after spreading your legs online-”

My stomach turned violently. And without thinking, I drove my knee upward as hard as I could, hitting his groin area. He screamed.

His grip loosened instantly. I shoved him away with all my strength and ran. I ran out of that office. Ran down the stairs. Ran past the confused staff calling after me.

I didn’t stop. Didn’t breathe. I didn’t think. I burst outside and nearly threw myself into the first taxi I saw.

“Drive!” I cried desperately.

The driver was startled but he obeyed. And only when we were halfway home did I finally break down.

My whole body shook violently as tears streamed down my face. What video? What the hell was he talking

about?

My mind spiraled the entire ride home. By the time I stumbled into my apartment, my hands were trembling so badly I nearly dropped my keys.

The door swung open. And Elena was already there. Pacing. Her face was pale with panic.

The second she saw me, she rushed over. “Oh my God, Aria.”

My breathing hitched. “What’s wrong?”

Her eyes widened. “You haven’t seen it?”

Fear gripped my chest instantly. “Seen what?”

She grabbed my shoulders tightly. “Your phone. Check your phone. Right now.”

My heart nearly stopped. With trembling hands, I pulled my phone from my bag. Dozens of missed calls. Messages. Notifications.

My breathing turned shallow as I opened the first link Elena sent. And then the world stopped. My phone nearly slipped from my hand.

Because staring back at me on the screen was a video. A video of me. Or what looked exactly like me. Naked. Moaning. Entangled with Professor Hensley in bed. My entire body went numb. “No…” I whispered.
