JULIAN’S POV

Taking the position of CEO had never been part of my plan. Yet somehow, here I was.

Sitting behind a desk bigger than my patience, buried beneath contracts and financial reports while my father remained chairman, breathing down my neck from above like the controlling bastard he was.

I only agreed because the alternative was staying home. And staying home meant tolerating Leonie.

So if I had to choose between corporate hell and her constant presence in my space, I would choose the office every damn time.

At least here, I could breathe. At least here, I could work until exhaustion numbed every thought in my head. Including thoughts of Aria.

That morning, I had barely settled into my chair when my office door opened without warning. I looked up immediately, irritation flashing through me.

Father. I sighed heavily and leaned back. “What now?”

He stepped inside calmly, dressed in one of his expensive tailored suits, his expression unreadable.

“I assume you’re here to preach about marriage again?” I muttered. “Because if so, turn around and save us both the headache.”

But instead of responding, he walked toward my desk and tossed his phone in front of me.

“Look.”

My brows furrowed. “What the hell is that again?”

Then my eyes landed on the screen. And the entire world stopped.

My body went rigid. My jaw clenched so hard pain shot through my skull. No. No fucking way. On the screen was Aria. Or what looked like Aria. She was half naked.

And the crazy part was that she was spread across a bed beneath Professor Hensley. They were practically fucking. Her moans echoed through the room and I felt my heart break.

My blood turned to fire. My breathing stopped completely as rage unlike anything I had ever known surged through every vein in my body.

My fists clenched instantly. My vision darkened.

“She’s trending everywhere,” my father said coolly. “Apparently she has been sleeping with faculty members for grades and favors.”

I couldn’t hear him. I couldn’t fucking hear anything over the pounding in my ears. Every memory hit me at

once. Every tear she shed.

Every time she swore innocence. Every look she gave me.

Every moment I defended her in my own head.

All the doubts I had about her and that damn professor and how many times she told me that there was nothing going on.

And now this? “This…” Father chuckled darkly. “This is the girl you’ve been ruining yourself over.”

My grip tightened around the phone so hard I nearly cracked it.

“She played you beautifully, Julian,” he continued. “I told you before. Women like her know exactly what they’re doing. They are gold diggers but you didn’t listen. You’re so fucking stubborn.”

My breathing became heavier. Slower. More dangerous. “She pretended to be innocent because she knew what she could gain from you,” he said. “Money. Security. Power. Attention.”

My eyes remained glued to the screen. “She was never special,” he finished coldly. “Just another whore in prettier packaging.”

And this time, for the first time, I had nothing to say back. Because what the hell was I supposed to say? I had spent weeks trying to convince myself everyone was wrong about her.

Telling myself if Aria were truly after money, she would have drained every cent from that black card. She would have begged. She would have manipulated me with her sweet words.

She would have even taken advantage of the fact that I loved her. But now? Now I didn’t know what to think. Because the evidence was right in front of me.

And it looked damning. Father smirked like a man who had proven a point and gave me one final look. “I hope this foolish obsession of yours is over now.”

Then he turned and walked out. The second the door shut, I snapped. Everything on my desk flew.

The laptop crashed into the wall. Files scattered across the floor.

My monitor shattered on impact. Pens, glass, documents-everything went flying as I roared in fury, sweeping my entire desk clean in one violent motion.

“FUCK!” My chest heaved violently. My entire office looked like a war zone. My hands trembled from rage. From heartbreak. From humiliation.

A knock came seconds later before Blake rushed in. “Jesus Christ-” He froze. His eyes widened as he took in the destroyed office.

Then his gaze landed on me. “What happened?”

I laughed bitterly, dragging a hand through my hair like a madman.

“She lied to me,” I whispered.

Blake frowned. “What?” I pointed toward the broken phone still lying on the floor. He picked it up slowly. His eyes scanned the screen.

Then they widened instantly. “Oh…” I laughed again. Dark. Broken. Humorless.

“Yeah,” I muttered. “Exactly.” Blake looked from the phone back to me, his expression unreadable.
