Chapter 331

Aurora

By the end of skiing, I was exhausted. My legs burned like fire, my fingers were numb despite the thick gloves, and every muscle in my back ached from constantly trying to keep my balance. The cold had seeped int wanted to be back inside the warmth of the hotel, somewhere I could that

at skiing.

my bones, and the wind had left my cheeks stinging and raw. I just collapse, and forget the slippery slope and my own clumsy attempts

Mira was still chattering beside me, full of energy as always, but I could only offer half-hearted nods and murmurs. Every step toward the bus felt heavy, as if the snow beneath my boots wanted to drag me down. My Wolf growled faintly in frustration, restless from the tension I couldn’t shake, but I ignored it, burying myself deeper into my coat and scarf.

When we finally boarded the bus, the heat inside hit me like a wave. Steam rose faintly from the radiators, and the smell of leather and faint winter boots filled the air. I sank into the seat, stretching my sore legs as ar as the cramped space allowed, letting out a long, shaky breath.

Mira leaned against me, brushing a strand of snow-damp hair from my fac. “You okay?” she asked softly, though she didn’t need to-she

already knew.

“Yeah,” I mumbled, shivering despite the warmth. “Just… cold. And tired.”

The bus rumbled to life, and the scenery blurred past the window. My mind drifted as I stared at the mountains fading behind us, my muscles finally relaxing in a rare moment of peace. But then, as my eyes scanned the other students, my heart skipped a beat.

Zayn.

He was on the bus too, further down the aisle, sitting beside a small window. His posture relaxed, one arm draped casually over the back of the

seat, and his dark hair mussed slightly from the wind outside. He was watching the scenery, completely unaware-or pretending to be-that my

gaze kept finding him over and over.

I gritted my teeth, tugging the scarf tighter around my neck, forcing myself to look away. My wolf growled low, irritated and jealous, curling

like a coiled spring inside me.

I tried to bury myself in Mira’s chatter again, focusing on her animated descriptions of how the snow had flown beneath our skis, on the slight

ache in her shoulders, on anything that would keep me from staring at him. But it was no use.

Every now and then, his head would tilt slightly, a shadow of a smile playing on his lips, and my stomach twisted.

By the time the bus pulled back into the hotel parking lot, I was numb in more ways than one. My legs wobbled as I stepped off, the cold night

air biting at my cheeks again. I just wanted to get inside, get warm, and forget the chaos of the day.

Mira grabbed my arm, steadying me as we trudged toward the entrance. “Come on, Rory. Hot chocolate first. Then a shower. You deserve it,”

she said.

I nodded, too tired to argue, and let her lead me through the lobby. The warmth hit me like a soft blanket, soothing my frozen limbs and calming the low growl of my wolf. For a brief moment, I thought maybe, just maybe, I could forget Zayn, forget the jealousy and the tension, and focus on something else.
