The Human Among Wolves (Aurora) novel Chapter 335

Chapter 335

Zayn

No Aurora.

That didn’t mean shit.

My grip tightened, knuckles white as fury surged up my spine, hot and violent. The beast was right there, snarling, demanding blood.

“Where the F**k is she?!” I barked, voice raw.

Kael groaned, hands coming up to my wrists. “What are you-are you out of your F**king mind?”

“Don’t play stupid,” I snapped, shoving him harder into the wall. “She’s gone. Mira says she disappeared. And the last time she ran off like this

I cut myself off, jaw clenching.

His eyes sharpened then, fully awake now.

“Aurora isn’t here,” he said sharply. “I haven’t seen her since last night.”

“Bullshit.”

“I swear,” he shot back, meeting my glare without flinching. “I was asleep. Alone.”

“You’re F**king lying,” I said, my voice low and lethal.

Kael’s back hit the wall again as I leaned into him, forearm pressing hard against his chest. I didn’t care if I was wrong. I didn’t care if this crossed a line. All I could see was Aurora gone-missing-and him standing right in front of me like he always did when shit went bad.

“I’m not her,” I continued, teeth clenched. “You don’t get to look at me like that and think you can talk your way out of this. Whatever you did

to convince her-it won’t work on me.”

He sucked in a sharp breath, clearly pissed now. “Zayn-”

“Shut up.” the beast pushed closer to the surface, fury buzzing under my skin. “You think I don’t know what you are? You think I forgot who my father is? What he does? Who he uses?” I laughed harshly, the sound ugly. “You really expect me to believe you’re not working for him?”

Kael’s jaw tightened. “I told you already-”

“I don’t believe you,” I snapped, crowding him further. “And I never will.”

My hand curled tighter in his collar, knuckles aching. Images flashed through my head-Aurora’s face when she’s scared, the way she looks at me when she’s trying to be brave, the way she trusted me enough to fall asleep in my bed last night.

And now she was gone.

“If you touched her,” I said slowly, each word carved out of pure rage, “if you scared her, hurt her, or even looked at her the wrong way—”

Kael swallowed.

“I swear to F**king God,” I hissed, leaning in until we were inches apart,

to stop me.”

will kill you. I don’t care who you are, who you serve, or who tries

For a moment, the room was silent except for our breathing-his uneven, ine sharp and controlled by sheer force of will. The beast snarled,

demanding I tear him apart and find her myself.

“First of all,” he said, his voice low but steady, “I’m not working for your father. I never have, not now, not ever. Second-she’s not here.”

His jaw tightened as he looked straight at me, like he was daring me to call him a liar.

“And third, I would never hurt her. Not in this lifetime or the next.”

There was a brief pause, heavy and loaded, before he spoke again.

“She’s my mate, Zayn.”

The words hit me harder than any punch.

My grip loosened, just slightly. “She’s your…” I swallowed, my mind refusing to catch up. “Your what?”
