Chapter 387
Aurora
It had been maybe two hours.
Two hours of silence that felt like it could suffocate an entire planet.
Two hours of pretending the other didn’t exist.
Two hours of replaying everything in my head until every thought felt like it had teeth.
At some point, despite all my stubbornness, I glanced at him.
Just a second.
Just a tiny look.
He wasn’t asleep.
Not even close.
His eyes were open, staring straight ahead, jaw tight, body rigid like he was holding the entire world together with nothing but sheer
force of will.
He didn’t glance sideways. Didn’t acknowledge me.
But he felt it.
He always felt it.
His voice came out low and cold.
“What?”
The word sliced through the space between us like ice.
I didn’t respond.
Didn’t turn my head away.
Didn’t even blink.

I didn’t stop.
“You pushed me away. You made me feel like shit. You humiliated me. And then you expect me to what? Fall into your arms the second
you show up?”
“I expected you to not hate me,” he growled.
“Well, here we are,” I fired back. “Congratulations. Dream come true.”
His jaw clenched so tight I could hear his teeth grind.
“Oh right,” he said, voice dripping venom now, “because this is all about you. Everything is always about you. Your feelings, your pain,
your trauma-”
TRAUMA?” I laughed again, louder this time, bitter enough to burn. “You think I’m being dramatic? I got kidnapped, drugged, auctioned
off like property-”
“I KNOW THAT!” he yelled, the plane vibrating with the force of it. “Do you think I don’t fucking know?! Do you think I didn’t imagine
the worst every second you were gone?! Do you think I didn’t-
He stopped.
Breathing hard.
Eyes burning.
Voice cracking somewhere in the middle of all that anger.
But I didn’t care.
“Save it,” 1 spat. “You don’t get to play the hero when you were the reason I walked out in the first place.”
He stared at me like I’d stabbed him in the chest.
Then he leaned back and laughed-humorless, harsh, painful.
“You’re unbelievable,” he said quietly. “You really are.”
“Yeah? Well, so are you.”
His head snapped toward me again.
“You know what I think?” he asked.
