As they entered the office, they found the mediating officer, Fletcher, his high-priced lawyer, Dylan, Loretta, and even Riley, all waiting for them.
The moment Joseph and Vivica walked in, Fletcher's expression soured. His eyes lingered on her face, and he seemed surprised by the severity of her injuries.
To Vivica's surprise, Fletcher's lawyer stood up with a smile upon seeing Joseph. "Joseph, long time no see. We shared some good times back at university, didn't we?"
Both Fletcher and Vivica were taken aback by this. But Vivica quickly recovered—in a world of high-powered professionals like Joseph, it was perfectly normal to run into alumni.
Joseph shook the man's hand, his expression flat. "Gavin, you're aiming lower and lower these days. You're even taking on cases for scumbags like this?"
Gavin chuckled. "Joseph, not all of us are as famous as you, with cases piling up at our door. Some of us have bills to pay."
Fletcher stared, a mixture of shock and anger on his face. "Gavin, you... why didn't you tell me you were his classmate?"
Gavin shrugged. "It's not that strange to run into alumni in our line of work. Besides, if I hadn't known you were going up against Joseph, I wouldn't have been interested in this case. I took it as a learning opportunity, otherwise I wouldn't bother with such a morally bankrupt lawsuit."
Seeing the state of Vivica's face, Gavin couldn't help but feel a private contempt for Fletcher. What kind of man would lay a hand on his wife like that? No wonder Joseph looked down on him for taking this case.
Fletcher was too furious to speak. Loretta jumped to her brother's defense. "You two know each other? This is fraud! There's no way you'll fight for us properly! He's probably already bought you off."
"If you don't trust me, you're free to terminate our contract," Gavin said calmly.
